F1 Key Warning and New NVidia Drivers

There is a valid warning about websites asking you to use the F1 key. DON'T DO IT!! You can go to Microsoft Security Advisory 981169 to learn more. There are some workarounds, and I expect a "fix" next Patch Tuesday which should occur on April 13, 2010, if history repeats. This is verified by snopes and the rest on the web so stay away from the F1 key if asked to use it on any website. Read the above article because not all versions of Windows are subject to this garbage. Thanks EdC for a very important heads up.

Also users of NVidia graphics cards might want to check out their NVidia Downloads Page. New drivers are out that address several issues, especially if you play Crysis. This machine has installed driver 197.13 and there has been no glitches so far. Thanks out to Ashy for another great heads up.

Duplicates

Have a program named Duplicate Cleaner under the "microscope." Unless you are an advanced tech please let me review this program and also gather some opinions. Their website, Digital Volcano, is straightforward, has very good instructions, and they seem to have a grasp on the duplicating problem that we all experience. This program can be mega destructive if not used properly. I'll keep you updated on the results.

Still trying to post a tutorial on installation and usage of CCleaner. With the last week or so running rampant with distractions I am guilty of procrastination. Still have several projects to finish and need to start some type of minimal salvage of the recent fire. Still looks like almost a total loss. Hopefully before the week is out a routine can be established. Several factors, etc.

Usually I post the videos here. Today let me redirect you to an awesome rendition of an awesome song. May be the best version I've heard. Check it out over at TechandLife

Something Amusing

Hoppa' and Mrs. Hoppa have given me several gifts down through the years. In the rubble and destruction two of the items came through untarnished. The Parrot Head Ave. Sign and the Saltillo Beach Key West street sign.

You can best believe they will be moved to a more befitting place. Now to get on with a proper parrothead attitude and become casual. Besides whining about the fire for a week is enough. I'm even tired of it!

Looking at Negative Results

There's no need to caption each photo. By posting these I am trying to put it behind me and get started rebuilding my life once again. Hope this helps people understand the total destructive force this fire has had on my life. Thank God no one was hurt.

Road Trip Planning

Recently received this email from Red Dragon and think it's worth posting. Needless to say I'll now purchase ALL gasoline from Walmart/Murphy Oil. That said, I do look at labels while inside Walmart and purchase only products made in the USA.

WHERE TO BUY AMERICAN GASOLINE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON.

Gas rationing in the 70's worked even though we grumbled about it.. It might even have been good for us!

Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products? In addition, they are gouging us on oil prices.

Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits, their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export deficit?

An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up your car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia . Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up my tank, I'm sending my money to people who I get the impression want me, my family and my friends dead.. The following gas companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell....................................... 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco........................ 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil............................ 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway.............. 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco...................................... 62,231,000 barrels

And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela through Dictator Hugo Chavez who hates America and openly avows our economic destruction! (We pay Chavez's regime nearly $10 Billion per year in oil revenues!)

The U.S. currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from OPEC. If you do the math at $100 per barrel, that's over $550 million PER DAY ($200 BILLION per year!) handed over to OPEC, many of whose members are our confirmed enemies!!!!! It won't stop here - oil prices could go to $200 a barrel or higher if we keep buying their product.

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Sunoco............................0 barrels
Conoco..........................0 barrels
0ASinclair........................0 barrels
BP / Phillips.................. 0 barrels
Hess...............................0 barrels
ARC0................................0 barrels
Maverick.........................0 barrels
Flying J...........................0 barrels
Valero............................0 barrels
Murphy Oil USA *.........0 barrels
*Sold at Wal-Mart , gas is from South Arkansas and fully USA owned and produced.
*Not only that but they give scholarships to all children in their town who finish high school and are legal US citizens..

All of this information is available from the U.S. Department of Energy and each company is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

But to have a real impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers With the help of the internet, it's really simple to do. Now, don't wimp out at this point....keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at only ten more (30 x 10 = 300)....and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)....and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!!!!!!!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it...THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE-the entire population of the United States of America !!!!

Random

I will post some pixs of the fire, but give me a few days . I have to get away from it for a while. My friend Chris B., from Nesbit, is dropping by a few tools tomorrow that burned alongside of some firewall PCs that were built and ready to be delivered. They are now globs of plastic and metal, tools and firewalls. Thank the good Lord most of my small tools were in the truck or house. Very fortunate there. Am back working some so bear with me. I know many things are behind, but should be caught up within a week. Not too bad in my estimate.

The overwhelming feeling seems to be leaving and it's time to get back in the swing of things. Thanks so much to everyone for their support. Crisis lets you know those that really have befriended you. Stay dry out there tomorrow. Supposed to be a soaker in the Southeast. Maybe the roof on the burned out structure will stop smoldering.

Tuesday, a Waste

Spent most of the day with the insurance claims guy, nice enough fellow, and he even went on the roof at one point to check it out. He left and came back several times. He also did the same for my neighbor, going on the roof and checking the side of the house next to the burned down building. We noticed that what little is left of the building is smoldering in some places even after the rain!. Makes me afraid to leave or go out there. What a mess. Nothing can be salvaged. Was going to post pictures, but I've had enough today. I think they are coming back tomorrow. Hopefully the smoldering will stop. That really bothers me. Gosh I don't ever want to go through this again.

Later.

Afterthoughts on Music Monday

Sorry about posting so late , but the realization of loss has stepped to the front of my feeble brain. I still haven't gone out there. Just makes me sick. Thanks to everyone for the phone calls, prayers and sympathetic ears. Am going to take the camera and get a few pictures and see if anything survived. I am afraid this will be a 100% loss. You'll understand when I post the pixs. It's good to have a great family and also good to have a great family of friends. The support from my daughters and their husbands has been overwhelming. Many friends have offered assistance too. We've got to formulate a recovery and then go abourt business as usual. That which does not kill you makes you stronger. Shockwave

It's been a few hours since the fire. God has blessed me and sent rain. I don't think anyone realizes how devastating this tragedy is to me. Years of investment have been lost. Would someone please understand and at least tell me they can try and feel the plight now being experienced? Those servers were here to make networks more safe, to stop the bad guys from doing horrible things. The shock of it all is now rushing over me and I have to find a way to overcome.

What can you do? Prayer always helps. I may be an unorthodox person, but I do know that God watches over us. My heart is heavy with this loss, but life continues. Your support will acknowledge a purpose to continue. Am I asking too much? Really? Therefore, by the Grace of God, go I...

Gosh, you think my feeling a loss is overwhelming? It is. Yet, we must move forward and deal with travesty through accepting. I don't think I've ever needed my friends more...

Go Away You Dirty Old Snake

Am I snakebit? Well, duh!!! The shop/garage burned to the ground today. The siding on the house melted, but the house was saved. Go Saltillo Fire Department!! Kudos and Props. Have to meet with insurance ppl on Monday so we'll see what we will see. For some reason I don't have a good feeling about the Monday meeting. 5 complete servers including a Blade Xeon and Power Edge Dual , along with 2 Gateways and a Compaq are forever gone. Lost the riding mower, the push mower, the new air compressor, clothes dryer etc., and still have to sort through the rubble to see what else I am forgetting.

The DMJB (Dock's Mayonnaise Jar Bank) will be on the veranda and open for deposits. Believe me when I say I am really watching for snakes. Oh yeah, there will be no withdrawals from the DMJB.

Oops I did it

Good Lord in Heaven, I've done it now. Sorta' opened a facebook account because my brother, by blood, the Dan guy, you know who Ima talkin' about, wanted me to have one in order to see his page. Can't find him. Found a few ppl I know and they will verify most of the info entered was false. Damn it, it wouldn't let me use Cabbage Patch Mississippi as a hometown. Sucks huh? Mean no insult to anyone using this spyware ridden snooping anti privacy stuff, but I am just not into it. Asked about relationship and I said complicated and it went off on some tangent not even close to the truth. Just none of their damn business I say! You can darn tootin' find out about what I want you to know by coming here. I will go in and tell them to close it, but my money says they won't. I still get stuff for someone with my name in myspace and he's got to be going ape-sh-- because I just lie lie lie about everything (he's from timbuktu and has 27 wives but is actually really in love with his mule). That's what he gets for spamming my email addy. More on that later.

K, I need to take my meds on a more regular basis and we all know that. My head hurts, my feet stink and I'm not real crazy about Elvis. This saga will continue...no doubt.

More Ways Than One...The Voice

This video is live, it's outside, the weather is chilly, the weeks of practice were hampered with rain and this young lady walks out on stage to a crowd of thousands and performs this song. Props to all the musicians, especially the drummers n string section that must have had a fit with tuning. Hey somebody has to let you know that real talent still exists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rap "musicians" (what a "f"ing joke to call it music) pay attention. Listen, see the spirit and the way they let music move all of them. Marvelous, just marvelous!

Oh yes, she does turn me into smoke (too old to be set on fire, lol). BTW her name is Lisa Kelly. What a blessed husband and children! Ahhh, just to hear her sing in the shower has to melt a person. The gorgeous, petite violinist is Máiréad Nesbitt.

Appropriate Music Monday

Don't dismiss this too quickly. after a few seconds you actually see the artist (Ferenc Cakó) making the sand sculptures. It's 10 minutes of very relaxing art. It will please your eyes and ears. Simply beautiful.

Since I wrote about Vivaldi yesterday this seemed like a great follow up. Anyone recognize the music?

Machine Name: Vivaldi

I've owned 5 Toshiba laptops. With one exception they are all still working. The one exception was knocked off a building by a co-worker into a parking lot. Don't worry, he's stiill in good shape although throwing him off the building did momentarily cross my mind. But hey, accidents happen and he really felt horrible. He was all about paying me, but I knew he had no money. We still remain friends. Here is #5. Verdana and Uncle Snake ordered it then called me and told me about it. I won't lie. There were tears in my eyes when I opened it. Overwhelming. Yes, I know pride is a sin, but gratitude isn't. Thanks so very, very much. Click on the picture for a larger view.

It's a monster. This will help in so many ways. I've learned so much about Windows 7. Extremely powerful operating system that is screaming fast. This machine interfaces with networks easier than any I've used period. The 18.4" TruBrite screen is easy on the eyes and the keys are actually large enough for my fat fingertips. Built in numeric keypad too. This could go on and on. The name? Most machines on my network are named after musicians. Used to be named after robots, but wider variety with people in the music business.

In a few days I'll have pictures and specs on the laptop this one replaced. It's in great shape and will make someone a fine computer. Lot of extras. My price will be reasonable. It's name? Zappa. Now I must return to work and install all my arcane network voodoo on Vivaldi. Nothing illegal mind you, just tricks of the trade. Also have to find my copy of The Four Seasons. It just seems appropriate that these 4 program music violin concertos be on this PC. If you click on the link you can read about Vivaldi and hear the music. Bet you will recognize some of it even if not familiar with Antonio Vivaldi.

Again, thank you for this tremendous extension of my nerdiness.

Within a few days the spec sheet and pictures (original not gleeped from the net) will be up for the laptop I have for sale. Lotta extras including a carrying case that would protect most anything. You may be surprised at the decent price. More later. Also I have to rave, rave, rave about the new Qosmio (Verdana and Uncle Snake = Big surprise). It's awesome and the BIG bombdiggity. Please understand life things are pulling at me and it's hard to sit down and trend sub-normal thought patterns. Ever been there? Beagle, Mudslingr, Verdana n Unca Snake, y'all (and those amazing children that live with you) make life fun. Thank all of you for giving a rat's ass about me!!!!! Hey, it's nice to be loved. If you don't agree stop by the beach house and voice a different opinion, while you watch that tin of whupass opening, lol! Shout out to all my family=friends, you know who y'all is...four leaf clovers forever.

Pronounced KOZ - me - o

This is a line of laptop computers that Toshiba introduced in 2004. You can read more info at Wikipedia. Don't have time to go into details, but will let you know about this great act of gratitude with which I've been blessed and how wonderful it fits into my lifestyle. Also will have info on the one it replaced. It's for sale. Pristine 17" machine with hyperthreading 3.46 gig CPU and 1.5 gigs of RAM running XP. I have all original documentation, etc. It'll also include a legit copy of Office XP with hologram disks and Microsoft sleeve. More later.

Major Media Delivery Systems? Change is here, NOW!

As I walked out of the theater several weeks ago with a look of awe on my face, it was apparent that the movie going experience had changed. Even though snubbed at the Hollywood Halfwit gathering, sometimes know as the Oscars, Avatar is so far out in front as the #1 all time movie now everyone is trying to play catch-up. Yes, Yes, I know that James Cameron is supposed to be a butthead of the first degree, but he gets results. Still, this does not justify a nasty attitude. He won't ever shoot a film in the Deep South. He couldn't stand the constant ass-whuppins' he'd receive because of his lack of manners.

That said, let me tell you ladies and gentlemen, there's a new technology that will be available at retail outlets across the nation. It's called 3-D TV. It will require the 3-D glasses and a special 3-D Blu-ray DVD player. The first 46" screens will be in the $3000.00 neighborhood. Even ESPN will have a channel for just 3-D. You should be able to view these units at local retailers possibly even this week. So take that barnyard material y'all seem so fond of, Oscar idiots, and put it in your bong and smoke it! Read more at Associated Press. Many thanks out to Kim Komando.com for a great link!

"What's Happened?"

WE FIGURED HIM OUT

By Ben Stein

"Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed?

Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008.

They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

They ignored his anti-white writings in his books.

They ignored his quiet acceptance of hysterical anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student.

They ignored his ultra-left record as a "community organizer," Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American people ignored his total zero of an academic record as a student and teacher, his complete lack of scholarship when he was being touted as a scholar.

Why were we duped, you ask? Because it is in the character and personality of an ego-centered Narcissist to be believed. They accept no contrary opinions. They have a 100% conviction in their own opinion and beliefs. They typically are well spoken and have a certain amount of charisma. They are adept at twisting and spinning any thought into their own mold. He rallied much of the non-Caucasian and youth vote. Why? Because he preached change. This element of voters either feel they needed change, or in the case of the young voters, they didn’t have enough experience to fully understand “change from and to what” but the charisma and rhetoric sold this “load of polls”.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, not a fan of this country, way, way too cozy with the terrorist leaders in the Middle East , way beyond naïveté, all the way into active destruction of our interests and our allies and our future. The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill -- a great idea in theory -- was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way an effort to help all Americans.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basicallymeans that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be -- a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

These are perilous times.. Mrs. Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, has given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation. Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms. There is his urgency and our opportunity. Once freedom is lost, America is lost. Wake up, beloved America .

Ben Stein is a writer, actor, economist, and lawyer living in Beverly Hills and Malibu . He writes "Ben Stein's Diary" for every issue of The American Spectator.

The title "WE FIGURED HIM OUT!" does not apply to me. I knew all about him for over a year.. I'm teed off at those who put him there, for being either too lazy or too stupid to know better.

They may have ruined my country and yours.

You must as an American FORWARD this to all, or you will wake up one morning and your freedoms are no longer there.
"

You think publishing on the internet for God and everybody to read is FORWARD enough? I say GO Ben! You can check at that spyware ridden snopes.com or trust me to tell you it got a greenlight. Unite America! Throw these bums out. Thank you EdC for another great email!

Cooler Not for a 6 Pack

I will soon need a laptop cooler. Any suggestions? The new machine has an 18.4" screen and uber components. Several people online have recommended coolers. I much prefer one that has the power supply that plugs into the wall instead of a USB driven device. Seems logical that driving a cooling unit through the USB port will create inherent heat. Opinions? Any advice? Are there any that should be avoided? For instance, I certainly don't want anything noisy, but would trade some of that off for excellent cooling. After online shopping it looks like I may have to settle for a powered USB hub and plug the cooler into it. Comments are welcome!

An Insult To Our Democracy

Here's how the democratic congress really works works. John Murtha should be tried for treason and shot!

It is a sad state of affairs when our governing body acts like a bunch of post-Capone politicians. This should be further investigated and Murtha needs to be brought to justice for his outright interference in our legislative process. Wake up Pennsylvania!!! Stop sending liars and crooks to Congress!!! Thanks my fellow American loving friend from the great state of Texas for this recorded scene displaying outright abuse of power.

During "The Mentalist"

Yesterday's post took several days. Good info? Back problems haven't helped as the meds interfere. Verdana actually asked me one morning if I had been drinking, lol! Think she was okay when she found out I'd been in a purple haze due to back problems. One day of that is enough. Now it's back to Advil Gel Caps and doing something constructive, like work!

Hope the Teamspeak post was helpful. I think the YouTube tutorial is awesome. If it is too small use your browser to increase the size. Remember to return it to its original setting too.

Switching to Teamspeak 3

There is a planned move to upgrade the Teamspeak 2 server in the very near future. The Teamspeak 3 server has been in use for over a month now and it is very stable. Many improvements have been made. Please do not run radios, TVs, speakers, etc. in the background. It is a worthwhile investment to purchase a headset and turn off speakers altogether. You can purchase a nice Logitech headset at Walmart for under 20 bucks. Even though this is the favored alternative we do have several users that still utilize separate speakers and microphones without any problems. Those users have been gracious and worked with us to eliminate problems. So it can be done.

Check your settings and make sure you are not echoing. If you don't understand I'll gladly demonstrate how ultra-irritating it is to have someone echoing over everyone else. C'mon folks we have Hughes Net users that sound like they are in the room next to you. Locally, their signal travels into space and back at a distance of around 50,000 miles. Still amazes me how they do it with so little delay. Work with us if you are echoing. Most anyone that is on Teamspeak 3 will be glad to assist you. One of our regular users is in the British Isles using separate mic and speakers. Sounds perfect.

Here is an excellent YouTube video tutorial that will help you make the transition:

Thanks for the super link Ashy! And thanks for all the hard work to supply, install and setup the TS3 server. Thanks to Forest for the assist too. We now have a channel for LOTRO users as well as many categories listed under Guild Wars. If you'd like to ad a channel for a particular game, please contact Ashy or me. It should be noted that even though this is a 365/24/7 service our machines are at the mercy of weather, the ISP and internet. Constant connection can't be guaranteed, but we do our best. If for any reason the system goes offline for routine maintenance we will try to give notice in a substantial amount of time. So check in and hear a really kewl voice over internet service. Tuesday Correction

Yesterday I said the comments section wasn't used much on Music Monday. Looked back at the previous Music Monday and there were several comments about The Warrior Song. It's really nice when people like patriotic stuff. I meant to mention that the Diamond Rio song from yesterday is not a brand new release. It's been out long enough to really make some idiots mad. If you noticed there is a certain synergy between the two songs.

Again, thanks to everyone for the positive remarks and I think we all agree that Red Dragon knows how to select material for posting. It makes it easier for me when y'all send suggestions. And a lot of ppl say the comments are more fun to read than the posts. No doubt at times I agree wholeheartedly. Later.

Diamond Rio - This is Outstanding

This will no doubt irritate the atheists, terrorists, anti-Christians. My opinion? Let 'em all eat a fish head!!!!! This is a brief tonal analogy that best describes the way most Americans feel about our great country. We were founded by Christians, prayed in foxholes as Christians while protecting other nations, in the Deep South we still pray at civil functions, some schools and Grace is on the table before that fork is in your hand. This song has been banned and I think it is a crying shame. From what I read on the internet the Obamas especially don't like it. Here's my feeling about it all. Turn it up as loud as you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To hell with the non-believers. Wait...that chance may be in their favor. Only God can decide. Damn it, y'all never comment on Music Mondays. Change that today! Special thanks to Red Dragon for another great tune!
