Music Monday - Father and Daughter

For fans of Celtic Woman: Hulu now offers several full length concerts by CW including the Christmas Special. Presently the videos are listed under 'Clips', but click on one of the windows and you can watch the complete concert. Go to HULU - Celtic Woman. BTW Hulu Rocks!!!!

Three of my favorite musicians favored us with a wonderful ballad, Melissa, at the 2007 Farm Aid Concert. Warren Haynes is the lead guitarist. Surprise - he only plays and does not sing. Warren was front man for Gov't Mule and had great influence on Grace Potter's early career. What's to be said about Dave Matthews? Dude is extraordinarily talented. Of course that's Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Gregg Allman taking center stage. Folks, this is worth a few minutes of time. Really a super performance by all:

Thought I would give everyone a chance to listen to Gregg's daughter, Layla, sing an extremely tough song to cover. She does a good job. Too bad there's not a good live video. She sings really great in most YouTube offerings of live performances, but the video in all of them sucks...so far:

Music Monday - Hotty Toddy!

In 1962 the Billingsley, Litkenhous and Sagarin Polls were famous and football fans anticipated their results. All three declared Ole Miss the National Champions after they defeated Arkansas, the only non-Texan member of the SW conference at the time. The deciding final score was 17-13 in the Sugar Bowl. At that time there was no National Championship procedures. Oh yeah, Arkansas later rejoined the mighty SEC. The Rebels had a young quarterback name Jim Weatherly. Now you may ask yourself, why is college football being discussed on Music Monday? Well, that young quarterback from nearby Pontotoc Mississippi graduated from the Colonel's Campus and embarked on a career in the music industry. His songwriting career has produced many hits. Gladys Knight and the Pips had two mega hits with Jim's tunes. One is Midnight Train to Georgia. The other is this great hit beautifully covered by the talented folks that hang out at Daryl's House. Take a few minutes to listen please:

BTW, great music can be heard at Beagle's site. She inspired several to start posting 'Music Mondays'.

Music Monday - Marching to a Different "Drummer"

My apologies for not posting. Seems I needed another week to finish the "sort and organize." This Music Monday is a tune sent by my friend EdC. Beautiful tune sung with a beautiful voice. Take a listen:

Music Monday - Daryl and Todd

It was inevitable these two extremely talented musicians would sit down together and produce soulful harmonies that would touch one's heart. Todd Rundgren has been around for a while. On his early albums he usually played all the instruments and sang all the vocals (i.e. A Wizard, A True Star). Brother Daddy Dan saw him and raved so much I caught the Wizard act and was blown away. He also raised Liv Tyler along with her Mother. Yes, I know she is Steven Tyler's daughter, but Todd was a grand man stepping in as the father figure during her formative years. I think they all did a great job. Liv is awesome. And Daryl Hall. What can I say? He's one of the truly great ones. Em, thank you for turning me on to the series, "Daryl's House." Extraordinary music up in there! This is live. It moves me...or the earth under me.

Music Monday: I'm Back with Jimi

Sorry about the absence, may go back and fill in a few days with tech help or just consider this time off for R&R. That's rest & recuperation not rest and relaxation, lol. Here's a classic and also one of my favorite Hendrix songs.

If I catch up any on the blank posts during the past few days it'll be for the most tech help and also look fortwo hilarious YouTube videos of Steve Bridges imitating Obama tommorrow. Obama is trying to have him censured. Anyway check it and have a good laugh!

"We have a set list, but we work up a lot more (songs) than we're gonna do. That way we can throw things in and change it around, especially if we're in a place for two days. It's good to keep yourself interested. The last show we did five songs we never rehearsed and that certainly sparked us up."

Music Monday - Classic Feel Good Tune

Found this while looking for a Big and Rich song that would embed instead of linking. Most of the artists I recognize, but a few I didn't. BTW is you don't like seeing someone give the finger this might not suit your taste. Great tune and a good presentation. Opinions? Can anybody name the group in the 2nd picture? I am thinking Moody Blues, but not real sure. Bet Neal and Daddy Dan can name 'em all!

Music Monday - Carrie at Her Best!

Sometimes things stir my deepest music spirit. If you can watch this and not feel it touch your heart you might want to find another country. God Bless the United States of America.

Music Monday - Foghat

Interesting version of a classic rock and roll anthem that originally started life as a blues song. I like it:

Music Monday

Several people have requested that this video be posted again. For a little over 3 minutes she's gonna nail you. You think she's peaked and it just keeps getting better. Also, this was in 2006 which meant Orianthi was still in her teens! This moves my music soul, There are no words to describe how she overwhelms me...just listen:

One of the CLASSIC Rock Songs

One of my favorite guitarists doing one of his best tunes. Lot going on in this performance. The dude on the Hammond can tear it up! The video quality leaves something to be desired, but it's still a great listen to one of the masters of guitar. Makes me wanna' get up n dance!!

Hold on to Something, This Will Blow You Away

Two of the hottest guitarists on the planet. This is an amazing video that really shows off their ability. He's the legendary master of strings on a fret board, Steve Vai. She's the legendary and absolutely awesome in every way Orianthi. The song is named, appropriately, Highly Strung. Kick the video up to 480 and go full screen for best results.

Another Hot Music Monday

Esthero from Canada on Jimmy Kimmel. The video and audio are actually good. Give this a chance. She changes tempo, mood, movement and has one killer band and super back up singers. I likes it, me precious:

Music Monday, Different

This is just not right in so many ways, but creativity is alive and well with an unusual version of a classic Temptations song. You can click on the bottom right corner (the 4 arrows pointing out) for a larger display. Take it with a grain of salt and see if it gets a chuckle out of you:

Love the part with the jumper cables! Did you laugh? Please leave a comment and let me know.

Music Monday - Awesome Triple Play

EDIT:Click the bottom right 4 arrow symbol to expand to full view for greater detail.

Three performances by some of the most talented musicians on the planet. The front man is Mr. Phil Collins. Unless you been living in a cave all your life you have heard the first song. But, chances are you've never heard such a super performance of it. It's the best. Sends chills right to the bones!

Second one is almost as famous with a short sweet drum intro. Sorry it's edited too soon and ends abruptly. Still give it a listen then be prepared to be blown away. You have probably never heard this next 10 minutes of pure dynamite.

The third, wow, what can I say? Three drummers doing the most amazing drum trio I've ever seen. For those of you that think Phil Collins is just a singer songwriter watching this rendition of an awesome drum triple threat will change your mind! Hold on to your chair, turn it up and get ready to rock!

Now do you wonder why all the Brits are po'd about the Queen not knighting him yet? If Elbone John is Sir Elton then there should be a Sir Phil! Thanks EdC for great links!

Music Monday

This is in my top five favorites of all time. Sorry there's no live video, but sit back and hear a wonderful voice sing a wonderful song. It just doesn't get much better than this:

Whew! Moving rendition that causes me to meltdown.

With songs of sadness and of mirth,
That they might touch the hearts of men,
And bring them back to heaven again."
