Let's Talk About Malware

I need your help. If you have a favorite utility that helps the security of a PC, please email or comment. Just sending a name is more like a vote than help. Be nice to know what the software does, maybe some history and certainly a good link. Please don't send recommendations other than FREEWARE. Most of us know that AVG's suite is worth the money as well as Web Root's Spysweeper. If you have had good results with known favorites like SpyBot Search and Destroy, CCleaner (the slim version sans Yahoo toolbar), Microsoft's Windows Defender or others let me know. I am once again compiling a list of the good guys. There will be links, general information, download and installation procedures and how to donate to those that deserve it. It's been a while since this was done and many things have changed. For instance, you can forget Lavasoft's free Ad-aware. They have bedded down with the creeps at Claria.

Recommendations of sites to avoid will be another article. Let's face it if you go to Party Poker, some areas of Yahoo, and many other sites (especially porn and some download sites) infections WILL occur. The jerks that write and promote this garbage should be gut shot and left to die in horrible pain. As mentioned here before these evil people are in league with Satan and the powers of darkness. They will reside in the lower depths of hell. I think some live there now. If you have the knowledge to write this garbage then get a real job and make some decent money. As the internet has become more international the malware, virus problems have increased. That's not to say we don't have our share of web idiots in this country. It's just an observation.

Your help will be appreciated. Please remember, this is a plea for freeware not shareware. Exposing a known bad site will help too. The obvious is not needed. I know Microsoft is an abuser and collects personal info almost every time you boot your machine. I also know that Google collects non-personal information about your web travels to aid their ads. Microsoft has done this since the day they started letting the planet's biggest clown have power. Who is he? Steve "Bozo" Ballmer, a man that really, really, really, really needs to retire to a home somewhere. Preferably on one of Saturn's moons. Yes, that is his picture in this paragraph. Can we say goofy looking? For Guild Wars fans - let's get Izzy a ticket too.

It's late and time for lights out.

“Being able to break security doesn’t make you a hacker anymore than being able to hotwire cars makes you an automotive engineer.”
