Yes, Firefox 4 Runs in XP and is Now Available for Download

For those of you that are miffed and thoroughly disgusted with Microsoft's IE9 recent snub of XP users, rest assured you now have a strong advocate in your corner. Today's release of Firefox 4 will definitely work with XP machines. Read more at ComputerWorld. This article also walks you through the procedure to download Firefox 4. Good to see Mozilla embrace the most popular operating system on planet earth - Microsoft XP. Good marketing ploy for the people at Mozilla, Firefox's parent company. This is an awesome browser that has great flexibility and extension libaries that makes it easily custom tailored to an individual's use. Fast too. Once again white hats off to people caring about their fellow internet users. Good job Mozilla and keep up the great work!

Let the dust settle and I'll bench Chrome, Firefox, Safari (Apple's onboard Browser) and Internet Explorer 9 then post the results for your use. We will find out who has the speed o' light portal to things Internet.

"The Internet is the most important single development in the history of human communication since the invention of call waiting."

This isn't the win95 conversation all over again is it.......
Unless you are being strangled by a low power can you think of a good reason to be runnin XP? Sure it was great FOR IT's time but.......

Actually I have one PC running XP Pro. Since 78% of all computers on planet earth run XP, I feel that Microsoft should have made the gesture, especially since IE9 is a vast improvement over IE8. I do understand that it has to do with the architecture difference in XP and Vista/Win7. Microsoft has also extended support for XP until 2019.

So, I am not supporting the continued use of an operating system that is quickly becoming outdated. Yet 78% still cling to it - certainly in the workplace. Yes I wish everyone ran Windows 7. This is just another thing to remember during the election. If Obama and his goons hadn't made such a mess of things, we might see more Windows 7 machines. Believe me, I am an avid fan of Windows 7.

I'll admit it, I had not a clue that even the work place was so luditian as to be hanging onto xp I am well familiar with the mindset that gloms onto old oses and even tries to deify them and knew that there were folks out there but just figured it was a few ludites and xpnazis.......

Business customers stay with what works. Thanks to the Vista debacle you can thank Microsoft for once again shooting itself in the head, not foot, because they could have explained where they were headed and would have gotten to Windows 7 long before now.
May I remind you , my brother Mike, that speed is not everything ! I want stability and security any day over speed. Getting there fast and getting there wrong along the way can be disastrous these days. I finger fart enough as it is. Yes Speed is a cool and wonderful thing, but I want my browser to work day in, and day out and not trip over itself - IE7 and IE*, you know who you are!
Anyways I cant wait to see the benchmarks you get when you compare the browsers!

With today's economy and the price of a new OS I think you are adhering to the norm. Good Lord knows I can't afford a new version of Windows so far be it from me to be critical. The next post touches on this with some astounding statistics. Robert, you are not alone in your decision.

I just converted to Win7. Had been running XP Pro for the longest. Vista not a debacle, you've gotta be kidding me. If it hadn't been such a VAST debacle, Win7 would have been called Vista SE! Microsmooze knew they screwed the pooch on that one, and knew they had to rename the new OS, so not to frighten people away before it even got outta the gate. Win7 is what Vista SHOULD'VE been, but they rushed it to market to try to make their slowly sinking company (yeah, right) some more money.
