Good XP Availability Article

Dell will offer XP after the cutoff harped about by Bozo Ballmer. Years ago I was so disgusted with Dell I refused to even work on their machines. They used junk for parts and it showed. Michael Dell had enough sense to stop this garbage and started using better parts. This has continued and I have done a 180 on their product line. Their prices have become more affordable and the lines have expanded. I own a Dell. I like it. Still prefer a custom build, but Dell and HP both make good units most of the time. So this pleases me that Dell is basically telling Microsoft and Ballmer to take a flying leap. There's a very good article about this on Michael Horowitz's blog at CNet. One commenter doesn't agree because XP is 6 years old. Okay, this said, does the Vista operating system reflect over 6 years of R&D? Is the level of innovation concerning operating systems slowing down somewhat after several major leaps (id est, going from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 was a HUGE positive change)? Opinions?

Have a casual evening that will hopefully continue into Sunday. Rain is forecast here. Good time to finish some spring cleaning. Later.

The lack of emotional security of our American young people is due, I believe, to their isolation from the larger family unit. No two people - no mere father and mother - as I have often said, are enough to provide emotional security for a child. He needs to feel himself one in a world of kinfolk, persons of variety in age and temperament, and yet allied to himself by an indissoluble bond which he cannot break if he could, for nature has welded him into it before he was born.
~Pearl S. Buck (I find this an interesting concept)
