Customer List Software...Request

The search is on for a program that lists customers for a client. You know, a database that holds name, addy, ph#, tax#, buying history, etc. Hopefully there is some opensource or freeware program available. Oh yeah, it has to be networkable and server based. Anyone know of such a program? Or even one that's for sale, but reasonable. The price of the Quick Books module has been observed and noted. Anyone have experience with such a problem? Inquiring minds would like to know.

The program in place now is an old DOS based program and it has several problems. Files become lost at random. Parts of it mysteriously shut down (like losing the A's and B's listings) and it has to be restored from backup. The mapping capability is not the greatest either. Great program in its day, but needs replacing. All the client machines are XP and the server is Windows.

Spring is in the air and the yard awaits. Time to put on my mowing shoes and find my mp3 player. Later.
