Music Monday - 4th Funk!

Okay, I was a 'down with disco' 70s dude. But some music of the disco era was downright awesome. At the time it was all about Southern Rock surrounding me. Secretly I was a closet dancer. How can a person sit down while listening? Really liked this tune the first time I heard it and was absolutely flabbergasted when I saw them!

Rockers should not be quick to judge the music or the group. The dark haired fellow on the left that does the guitar intro is Bryan Bassett. After Wild Cherry, he went on to play guitar with Foghat, then Molly Hatchet, then Foghat again. He still performs with Foghat today.

4th Funk? July the 4th and Funk. It's an old term for a style of music made popular by George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Funk has other meanings, but is a very positive term when talking about this style of R&B/Pop. UTube search for George Clinton and listen to a few tunes. It's almost a sure bet you've heard some of his music - used in commercials a lot. Another example is the Midnight Special video of the Ohio Players doing 'Fire' and many of Earth, Wind, and Fire tunes are considered Funk or Funky. So is Wild Cherry, Average White Band, KC & the Sunshine Band, etc. Being ancient in age helps, LOL.
