Navy 1, Satellite 0

At 9:26PM CST, the USS LAKE ERIE, a guided missile destroyer class ship, launched a 10 million dollar missile. Three minutes later a satellite in a decaying orbit ceased to exist. The launch was tentatively scheduled for today. Now we watch for debris during the next two days. Then we repeat the watch again in about forty days. It has been speculated that if the device had not been destroyed it would have scattered remnants of the failing mechanism over hundreds of square miles. Makes good sense to me. So, dissenters of the world need to just shut up! China shot one down last year so they really need to give it a rest. There's a good article at Associated Press.

Space shuttle Atlantis landed safely yesterday. Always great to see them return as scheduled. The landing was at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Stay casual, the weekend is very close!
