Here's something to ponder: High school student faces 38 years in prison for hacking grades. Should this 18 year old serve that much time? Or should Google, Microsoft, IBM, etc., pick up the attorney fees as recruitment bait? Crime is crime no doubt, but I'd be very ashamed if I was the Principal of this school. There's the real dumbass of the bunch. The Network and Systems Administrators of this high school are also village idiots.
He shouldn't have done any of these things, but is someone in high school really accountable? Yes, yes, he's eighteen, but still in high school! Raging hormones, peer pressure, and many other factors come into play. He certainly shouldn't get off without punishment, but 38 years? Tell you what, when they lock up the bastards that created Smit-Fraud, Spy Sheriff, or whatever the evil creeps are calling it today then crime against society will receive its rightful due.
Instead of spending money to persecute an eighteen year old why not put together a hit team and "off" all the spyware jerks? Sounds like a better use of money to me. Besides, Omar, the eighteen year old, could turn out to be another Kevin Mitnick and help us combat the real evildoers. If the damned ACLU and that bunch can defend some of the real jerks of the world then it should be mandatory that someone barely not a child should be granted the same privileges. Seems that way to me anyway...
Got an opinion? I'd like to know it. Take a minute or so and post your thoughts in the comments.
