Lot of cooking going on at the beach house. Using a fresh turkey along with a spiral ham to anchor the meal with a large pan of chicken and dressing for the main course. Traditional southern green beans will be served (bacon grease IS required - not an option) and rolls will probably harden on the table.
One dish that has constantly been applauded is a scratch cranberry sauce prepared from a Tyler Florence recipe. It can be found here. Actually saw Tyler make this on the Food Network and it is now a holiday beach house staple. I do add walnut pieces. This is one of those dishes best refrigerated overnight.
Why cooking on a geek site? Hey, we eat too. Besides a pregnant woman requested some things this year and this is my way of letting her know a trip to Dad's house will mean fav foods. Let me also mention her sister is one heckuva' cook too. May try some of these goodies at a LAN Party in the near future.
Now my lardass must waddle off to bed. Later.
"In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it 'Christmas' and went to church; the Jews called it 'Hanukkah' and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say 'Merry Christmas!' or 'Happy Hanukkah!' or (to the atheists) 'Look out for the wall!"
