If you download Date Manager, Gator Ewallet, Precision Time, Weatherbug,Weatherscope, DashBar, ScoutSearch, FeedbackResearch, or Gain you've downloaded Claria software and it is ADWARE which some folks call SPYWARE. Your movement across the internet is being tracked. This seems like friendly stuff and they have a way of coercing you into downloading this vile barnyard material. Satan is a smooth operator. Remember that when approaching such software. This company recently changed it's name and my guess is that was due to all the bad press. It is beyond my power of comprehension as to how they can exist in a democratic society. They have sued sites before for calling them "spyware". I ask you my fellow cybernauts, is this a joke? Many pieces of malware await your arrival so they can jump on your PC. My Web and My Search are also tracking your movements. I have spent the better part of a day trying to remove something called Incredifind off a network that has created havoc on internet connection capability (so far we've only formatted one PC). Never download any browser toolbar enhancement except Google. Google is doing a great job which proves there are still some good companies out there. Adware/Spyware not only spys on you and reports to God only knows what kind of nefarious institutions, it bogs down your machine. Trying to remove it can result in re-formatting your hard drive and losing all your data. If you want someone watching every move you make then go ahead and just download your ass off! Wear it out. Get everything that pops up and put it on your machine! Above all, be sure you don't care about other people on your network because if you've downloaded some of this junk it WILL run rampant across a network!! And when I put that bill in your hand don't whine. Don't dare wimper because your data couldn't be saved!

As often mentioned here duelling should be brought back. It astounds me that these jerks can sue someone because the truth has been told. If they were challenged then at least it would become apparent they have no honor whatsoever. Thank you ACLU, liberals and other ne'er do wells for giving such cretins this ability! Still some good sites on the WWW

Snapfiles, formerly known as Webattack (the button towards the bottom of the link list still says Webattack), has revamped their page and made it easy to read and navigate. Here you will find a plethora of freeware and shareware. They offer many utilities to make living with your personal confuser easier. Many web authoring tools, networking programs and utilities, security stuff and so forth. This is a very well organized site that's easy to read and very fast! I saw no popups and they did not whine for me to register and login. This is a great example of well done work with only banner ads. I hope they continue successfully with this approach.

On the other hand I've been researching DVD burning software with hopes that my next major purchase will be a DVD+R-R unit. I did several searches and won't link to these sites because Burnworld has annoying popups, splash screens, etc. and burn4free actually costs $19.95! Misleading? Duh! They try to justify with the free trial thangy, but they won't get my business because of the blatant deception.

Recently downloaded and tried eMule. Don't bother. If someone knows a way to connect and has had success using this program please let me know. Great idea, lotta press, but no delivery.

A not so safe Mississippi harbor

It's hard to believe that most Mississippians aren't aware of or just don't care about the tort reform bruhaha taking place in this state. There's a severe problem here and it has to do with bad laws. Let's get one thing out of the way initially. The phrase "first we kill the lawyers" does indeed come from a Shakespeare play. In Henry the VI, Part 2, a rebel of low and despicable character that is a follower of Jack Cade utters these words saying it is the best way to start overthrowing the King. Well, folks the King is the hero here and the lawyers are on his side. That makes them good guys and if this rebel leader is that worried then they most likely are the super good guys. So the next time you hear this statement please remember the truth. We've many people suing folks because they can. I had a lady make a left hand turn in front of me several years ago and hit the vehicle I was in while going the wrong way on my side of the road. Minor damage. An obvious case that would make anyone realize that she was at fault. Also, there were two credible witnesses that saw this happen. She was dating a motorcycle policeman who showed up just minutes after the wreck. I asked her three times if she was ok and she said yes with the boyfriend saying 'it's just an accident, glad nobody was hurt'. He then walked over to the policeman and they had a conversation. Several people saw this talk. The policeman later denied speaking to motorcycle boy in a deposition. He lied. Outright bald-faced lied. The police report said I was at fault because I hit her. Can we say collusion? She was going the wrong way on MY side of the street. She was in my lane going the wrong way damn it! Well, a local ambulance chasing idiot lawyer (this is a large man and even his fellow lawyers call him a bully) became involved and she was at the doctor's a week later yet never missed work. My company and I were sued. The lady and the officer that did the report were caught telling lies during their depositions. Because this idiot ambulance chasing lawyer frequently pulls these stunts, the insurance company paid them instead of going to court with a solid case they could have won. The settlement cost them less than the price of lawyers and court costs. K, folks, this is way beyond stupid. Not only do we need to run this idiot lawyer out of town (he is actually the subject of an article on the web where he was caught trying to intimidate someone and should have been disbarred then!), the insurance company should be punished as well. Absurd!

I realize that many people practicing law are ethical, upstanding citizens that value truth, justice and the American way. It's a few bad apples that are degrading our state in more ways than one. Doctors are fleeing because of malpractice suits and the silly laws involved. This is personal. I want my friends and relatives in the medical profession to stay here in this area or have the desire to come here without injustice running rampant. Tupelo has the largest hospital in the state of Mississippi. Which is more important? Your health? Or the rights of some cheesy lawyer to practice voodoo jurisprudence? Fellow Mississippians, get off your dead asses and talk to your elected officials. Make them aware you know about such shenanigans and won't tolerate it!! Most barristers I know are sick about all this and support reform. They too are amazed at the general apathy concerning this matter. Do yourself a favor. Go to Google and do a search about Mississippi tort reform. Read about this. Some laws have been passed, but we are still not out of the dark. Be a citizen and get angry about the evil. Support the good guys and vanquish the bad guys. Run their no good butts outta' town! Let's not even consider killing the lawyers, most of them are good guys!! Let's kill the frivolous lawsuits and correct the malevolent laws. After all, isn't this what community is all about? Don't know about all y'all, but I want the doctors in my area to be the best! So, heed my words and help yourself. Wonder if mr. big ugly ambulance chaser will sue me over this post? Probably so. We'll see if the truth can stand up in court.

It's raining. Work planned today is cancelled. It involves digging a trench for a cable, drilling two walls and soldering two connections outside. Stomping around in the mud and going inside and out just won't get it. So, I'll probably change a water pump on the lead sled and attack the garage. First, it's fix a flat time. Don't have to be afloat to get 'in irons' around here! LOL

Weekends should be 4 days long. At least on weekends it's hide and call the shots about when,what n' where. Some think the work day for beach-housers is 24/7. Hmmmmm, think I'll start bartering for their time. Work on your network - you come help me organize my garage. Replace your faulty video card, you mop my floors. Eureka! May have found a way to get the beach house in order! Am sooo sorry for those that are disappointed that maintenance and sleep are necessities. There's even one person out there that has decided I don't need sustenance. Okay okay! True, my fat ass could throttle back in that area.

Up early making changes. Am trying to set up everything for publishing pictures/images. Really wanted to road trip today and visit friends. It won't happen. Too much to do, water pump is out on the lead sled, have a flat tire, need to deliver a media PC, have one on the bench, have to work tomorrow - the list goes on and on. Great to be alive and in Mississippi!

Really like this time of night. The phone doesn't ring. TV in the wee hours of the morning sucks, but books seem to come alive. The trains seem to moan instead of shriek. Nice to know you can nod off and dream about sailing or riding a Harley. Watching the sun come up while sitting on the veranda drinking coffee is a treat. Just something refreshing about the peaceful darkness after the witching hour.

Ever been to the Harley-Davidson site? They have a neat utility where you can select a picture of a bike and put different color schemes on it. This a very well organized site and has neat features. Go take a look. I've always wanted a Hawg. Here's another Harley site, Bumpus Harley-Davidson. Just sitting and dreaming about bikes and thought I'd pass this info along. Hey, like the Japanese bikes too. Never owned a Harley but have had several Hondas and one Yamaha - all good bikes. Sometimes I think about A1A and Key West via Harley. Wow, what a concept.

Like to thank my Tishomingo County Faction for their support yesterday in the comments. I needed a lift. Working on a network problem that snagged my lunch and ate every bit of it!! Had to even call in a competitor and the problems are still not resolved. Talk about egg on the face! LOL

Let me just say this, UPDATE YOUR ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE! If you are not using SpyBot DOWNLOAD IT NOW, then immediately do the updates!!!! There's a nasty Trojan of sorts going around and some jerks have created a piece of barnyard material spyware that will actually alter the DNS settings on your machine. This is nasty stuff!! Please read the tutorial on SpyBot and be sure and Immunize. Get Adaware too. There are links posted for both. If you don't protect your computing environment you WILL have these problems. If you are running WEATHERBUG, Precision Time, etc., you are infected with spyware. Anything Gator, Gain, CMES III, GME, Claria is akin to Satan. They recently sued a site for calling them spyware and they are assholes to the nth degree. So sue me! You can't get blood from a turnip! If someone goes 'Postal' I hope it's on these folks! Anyway, some day I'll loosen up and tell you my true feelings about these dolts. As I gather information about this newest malady I will post it.

Sometimes you just have to bitch!

It is not hard to explain why I don't know how to install every gee-gaw available. It is not hard to explain why I don't know every piece of proprietary software available. It is hard to form the words in English that explain to some folks why I have problems trying to install their googly moogly, super duper, mo betta widget making software/hardware that's probably older than the hills and and do it without manuals or tech support. Believe me when I say there are thousands and thousands of such programs and units of hardware in existence. Some days I barely survive. Ever had a mass of machinery and a huge bundle of category 5 cable arise and try to devour you? Happens to me almost every day. With a lot of prayer I am still here. I really love these machines. I like how PCs have made the people of this planet a more efficient society in spite of all the virus writers, spyware jerks, RIAA, etc. I don't like when people that requested my presence become frustrated because I can't prevent all things evil and assure them salvation leading to immortality. Gimme a break! If you know what's wrong or how to install a piece of gear why did you call me? Go for it! Save some money and time. If I knew the ins and outs of EVERY piece of software written my butt would be in Redmond, Washington, opening up an office across the street from Microsoft! Yes sir ree bobtail! So please be patient. Folks, this goes for all techs. I do realize as a group we might not be noted for our happy cheerful dispositions. That is due partially to pre-occupation with things computerese and cyber. The next time you become impatient because you lost the drivers disk for your printer or scanner don't punish your tech person. She or he probably knows where to find said drivers and you don't. If your network fails and you haven't a clue how to get YOUR computers talking to each other then smile when your tech/geek arrives. Think about it. Be nice.

Mail.com started out as a good web mail service that has degenerated into a cesspool of greedy, trashy popups. Their last ploy to "entice" you to pay them was to slow down the page response while logged on and using the service. It always helps to have a trash account to avoid spam so now I have two at the Mail.com. They also show a page wanting you to upgrade every third or fourth time you take any action and you have to tell them yes or 'no thanks'. Well no thanks you bunch of clowns. This service started out in the late 90s as Snap mail and I've watched several transitions and stayed with them through the years. Last summer I was talking to my buddy Corinth Chris whose site is From the mind of a geek wannabe and we both used Mail.com at that time. He switched to Yahoo mail in utter disgust as I did back a few weeks ago. I was very seriously thinking about paying them at one time. I had even emailed and asked several questions about various account prices. Then the slow down started. If you want me to do business with you then use positive solicitation not negative!! Yahoo mail has constantly improved and the spam problem once there is not as prevelant now. So, they now have my support and will get my money. So sad to see the lust of money combined with the minds of idiots ruin a good thing.

Lava, it's a good thing

AVG antivirus software has a very important update available. It consists of definitions for several nasties prowling the web. Symantec, Panda, Sophos, etc. will probably follow suit and have new definitions available for all that like to pay for antivirus software. Adaware has an update available for their free version. Spybot just posted three updates for Spybot Search and Destroy. Stop what you are doing and download all this free protection! Just having the programs on your computer won't get the job done. Do all updates and then USE the programs. Have you checked Windows Update lately to see if the boys and girls at Microsoft have blessed your operating system with security patches, etc.? Is this getting through to anyone? Is this message being received? Hello? Hello?

Fellow Netizens, if you are not taking charge of your 'personal confuser' and protecting your cyber existence then you are endangering the whole community! Please, please use caution and be extremely paranoid when it comes to spyware and virus infections. We are all in this together like it or not. I have no clue as to what posesses people to write all this trash and they should all pray to their evil gods that I never become ruler of the known universe. Popups need to be stoppedup

Okay, let's see, at the top of this site is the title and below that is a description that says "raves and rants from a Misssissippi nerd" so on and so forth, ya da ya da. That basically tells you that this site is not a forum. While this is true, the comments section is a bit different. I absolutely cannot erase comments. I cannot alter comments, including my own. So even though the posts are mine, let me clarify that comments are not. I cannot be responsible for what is said there. Also let me throw in the fact that comments cannot be traced unless you include your email and/or website address. Look, anyone that has visited here frequently knows that it's not my intention to agree with everyone. If you are a thinned skinned democrat, liberal, member of the aclu or riaa, etc. and can't understand that I'm just another human espousing opinions then my sincerest regrets and no apology. It is a public blog and wide open for anyone on the planet to read. Yes, sorta soap-boxy. That said let's go on to other thangys and not dwell on my silly whimpering.

There is a popup that shows up when you click on the 'driverguide' button. I am going to investigate this and if it can't be corrected I'll kill the link. Popups suck! I will not allow them here. After you get to a site and start browsing that's different; to each his own. But, I will not allow anyone to link here that has popups on their opening page. That's about as cheesy as it gets. Thanks for the tip Redrum! AnalogX has an awesome popup killer called POW. It's under the network category and I've had nothing but good reports concerning this neat utility. Normally I despise explorer toolbars. That Yahoo thangy takes forever to load and slows down surfing. If you are using My Search or My Web explorer toolbars, congratulations! You've infected your browser with spyware and it is reporting every move you make on the internet to various nasties!! The Google toolbar is different. It has an awesome popup killer/blocker that requires very little set up. It also keeps several handy tools available. Google Toolbar. Before the critics chime in and tell me I've mentioned this before, hey, I am aware! Hope my repetition helps someone download one of these super utilities and it eliminates these annoying pests.

What if you owed a lot of old hospital bills and couldn't make ends meet without working at least two jobs? Alas, the Unknown One is making a point. Well, the Macworld whingding is going on this week in San Francisco. Steve 'Goober Lips' Jobs has basically told all apple users to get ready for the next wave of love from him. He grabs your wallet and doesn't even kiss. I am so sick and tired of the applenancies hootin' about the G5 piece of doodoo being the world's fastest computer. ROFLMAO! I say again ROFLMAO! Just goes to show - apple aficionadoes haven't a clue as to what happens in the real world. Glad most of them live in California. That's a long way away from Mississippi. Sorry folks, Macs or g-whatever they are calling them today, suck. Sad to see a machine using two year old technology selling for 2 to 3 times the price of a reliable PC. Yikes! Can we say dumbasses? The inconsideration of human beings never ceases to amaze me. I work, come home, work some more, and then sleep. Rarely do I have any time for leisure. I had planned on an easy weekend of cleaning the garage that I've talked about for a year now, but that won't happen. A true emergency has made me shift plans in order to pay bills. The stress of not having them paid, wondering if they will be paid etc., will kill you. That's the reason my creditors are paid on time. It makes them happy and I am happy. Obligations should be met in a timely fashion. Maybe I've missed something in this ever changing world. BTW, DaddyDan, the check will soon be in the mail...LOL

Update on connectivity dilemna

Talked to the satellite ppl and they want almost 50 bucks for their service with local channels. DSL is somewhere around 40 bucks. This saves me no money and there are 'start up fees'. So I called the cable company. The local people are always nice, but have no clue about internet stuff. After making the second call I actually talked to a straightforward, well-mannered young man in Georgia and he took the time to check on some things for me. Looks like I'll stop whining and put up with the inconvenience for a few more days. Sorry folks, I should not vent on y'all about this and will try and refrain in the future.

Jump drives are kewl!

For Christmas I received a jump drive. It's a small USB device that holds 128 megs of info. Easy to use and very handy. I have many utilities loaded on it for use in the field and it's been nice to have with my current internet upload speed problem.

This weekend I am going to try uploading with a regular dial-up modem. K, keeping it short and without a quote. Hope this works. My whining is bothering even me...

2003 hasn't been one of my better years, but it was great to be alive and involved in all the things surrounding me. Technology had a weird year. Still can't believe that Linux Red Hat was so close to getting a fair market share and then turned their back on home PC users. Free BSD, here we come! Do like the fact that hardware prices are good. The lepers at RIAA finally got a slap for being horse-turd Nazis that are hell bent on making people miserable. I certainly hope all you wimps that gave in and paid these jerks are feeling really stupid now - you are! TechTV added new shows and the staff members are really entertaining as well as being informative. We got Saddam! Osama, your next. Am dragging out to the place where evil dwells in a few minutes - the mall (just heard a horror story about the traffic there today). AVG Antivirus has an update. You need it. Go to the icon residing in the system tray (bottom right corner of your screen) click on it and then click the update tab. After installing the update run a virus scan.

ZoneLabs has an update for the free version ZoneAlarm. Here is the link -->ZoneAlarm Service and Support. There is a small rectangular box that says "Security Advisory - Click here for update" located at the top/middle of the page. Click on this and download the file.

Spy Sweeper has new definitions to download. Just click on the update definitions bar. This is a shareware program. A very good one.

Ad-aware has updates. Click on their update tab and download. This is for the freeware version and it's almost a sure bet that the shareware version probably has updates too.

SpyBot Search and Destroy has updates. Do a search for updates and then download them. Also, while here take time out to read the News section. Patrick has a lot of info on recent scams and the vile cretins that do the spyware/adware thing. He's in Germany so he can speak the truth without the pack of money grubbing internet lawyers harassing him. Extremely smart dude that has given us a wonderful tool that protects our 'personal confusers' from the pseudo-legal virus writers. I actually detest the spyware jerks more than the script infants writing the annoying virus infections.

Expecting company at the beach house today. Haven't wrapped all my gifts and it looks like a tornado hit here. Have to gather up all the 'puter parts, wash dishes, vacuum n all that. My money's on Frodo to win!

I told a lie yesterday. It was unintentional. We gathered at the theater, stood in line with the rest of the LOTR nerdlings and saw an absolutely fantastic movie. Standing in line was even fun for a change seeing all the people and listening to all the chatter about ring lore. Mr. Jackson left out several things in this last episode, but more than made up for it with his vision of how this tale should look and flow on film.

This is a beautiful story about friendship and doing good things. J.R.R. Tolkien was a precious soul blessed by God. His eloquence with words and extraordinary imagination gifted mankind with a wonderful guide book that teaches us how to interact with others. If you think this is a tale about elves, wizards, hobbits, etc., please get help.

I was 'conned' into reading this book about elves, wizards, hobbits, etc., by possibly the 'baddest' dude I ever met - Larry Easley. He could fight a rabid mountain lion, 2 ex-wives, their lawyers, a legion of liberal democrats, and a flock of seagulls while standing on his head n all at one time after drinking a gallon or two of gin n' tonics! He always had a can of Balrog whup-ass in his back pocket. Yet, he found great value in these gentle books. Larry told me, "Read these books and you'll know the meaning of friendship." He was and is right.

So, if you don't like the Lord of the Rings that's your business. I cherish the things I really love and value morally sound attitude. K, guess what I am saying is don't be rude about LOTR stuff. Balrogs may be just around the corner...

Attendance at the local movie theater will be lacking tonight. For the past two years my youngest daughter , her husband and I have seen the Lord of the Rings movies on opening night. It has been great fun. Paid somebody the first year to stand in line for the tickets. Last year we saw a wedding proposal in the theater before the movie that got a standing ovation. But, I've too many computers on my dining room table and floor.

Due to my haphazard approach to life and irresponsible attitude during my "younger" years a self imposed guilt trip exists. Came in tonight and fell asleep early so now it's time to hiho hiho. I digress. Everyone have a happy Return of the King opening day!

Ever been hacked, had a SCSI hard drive fail, network just FUBAR out of the blue, power supplies in two computers on the bench fail at the same time, cornbread not get done in the middle all at the same time? Come spend Sunday afternoon and evening with me. K, the hack is my fault. Rebuilding my system, adding stuff and had my guard down. NBD (no big deal). Only two machines were online and they are both due for a format and reinstall. The hard drive failing is more critical. It is a SCSI (pronounced scuzzy) drive, they are tough and I salvaged what little data was not backed up. "Networking is my life. I live for these moments," the poor depraved soul said. The power supplies are remedied by replacements. But that cornbread not getting done in the middle? What has happened to me? I have to spend more time with my stove.

Thin skinned about computing? An expert in computing? Then don't read this post.

Sometimes things have to be repeated. Like, install antivirus software, update it every few days and scan your computer. Find a good anti-spyware program and run it. Update it every few days too. If you are using Weatherbug, Precision Time, anything Gator, Gain, GMT or Claria then doom on you. ALL of your internet surfing is being watched and reported to nefarious entities that will use this information for no good. Yesterday a computer that was barely a month old showed up with every piece of that Gator barnyard material installed on it. It also had multiple virus infections including a few trojans. My money says that on the initial run of SpyBot all kind of nasties will be found residing on this computer including Doubleclick, Adclick, Gator, Gain, GMT, Claria, keyloggers (yes I said keyloggers- they can be remotely installed) and other adware/spyware. Adults should know better.

Folks, this is not rocket science. There is a wonderful website called GOOGLE. If you decide to download something please go and type in the name of that program into the search box on GOOGLE. Or use Yahoo or Excite or Lycos or even MSN! Read about your chosen download and make sure it is not some horrible tool of Satan like that damned Weatherbug or Precision Time! If you have these programs I absolutely guarantee that your every movement on the world wide web is being tracked and reported to various spammers, telemarketers and other village idiots. If you enjoy these clowns bugging the hell out of you then just keep running the stuff! I am sick and tired of trying to help folks that won't put forth the effort to protect their computing environment. Why don't you just walk in front of a cyberbus? Quicker and less cyberpainful. Or go buy an Apple. That's what you really deserve.

I have used AVG antivirus software for several years and it has done a wonderful job! Guess what? It's free! Just click on the link and go download the free version. If you insist in paying for software then Norton's/Symantec is very good. There's also Sophos, Panda and many others. If you are running McAfees, well, remember that cyberbus mentioned earlier? My system scans promptly at 6:00PM every day after checking for an UPDATE. When first online I usually manually check for an UPDATE. If you don't UPDATE your virus definitions then you are wasting hard drive space with the antivirus software. Not only do new infections show up but regenerated versions of old virus/trojan malware constantly resurface. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE. If I ever become ruler of the known universe all virus writers will be hurled into raging volcanoes. K, this will not likely happen so get with it and protect your system.


SPYBOT (Search and Destroy) is a very good spyware/adware remover as is AD-AWARE. Please read the tutorial on any utility that you download and do not whine to me if you screw something up. You did it. And don't blame the programs or the computer. If you can't download AVG, Spybot, Adaware and install it properly please reconsider you personal confuser of choice and regress to an Apple or pen and paper. There are wonderful instructions on all these sites and if you are reading this then you can comprehend what they have to say.

I know this is harsh and feelings may be hurt. This rant is meant to help make computing easier. It also helps me vent. When you don't protect yourself, come in blaming the computer because YOU downloaded some awful junk then there is 'no quarter'. Remember, these are machines. If you have Gator or some such malarky on your machine YOU put it there. It didn't just show up in the air and land on your machine. All words in this post that are in bold type are links that will take you directly to the site. Just hover your pointer over the word and click on it. Nuff said. I'm outta here for a while.

Robyn wants to know about MarkMonitor. They police web sites, among other things, to see if someone is using a registered domain and so forth. Cybersouth is a generic term that many people use and I hope no one is trying to "Spike Lee" this name. Spike wouldn't let TNN (the cable TV channel) change their name to Spike TV. Well, Spike ole boy, you have proven yourself an idiot and a buffoon. Yeh, let's copyright the name uh, uh, "computer" and sue folks to keep them from using it! Yeh, right, LOL. How about cybernorth, cyberspace, cybernaut, cybereast, cybertirade, cyberjunkie, cyberworld - you see my position? BTW, TNN did go on and change their name to Spike TV.

The very bottom link posted is Mailwasher. Several folks have asked about this site. It is a free program that cleans your mail before you download it. Love this program. Can we say spam-no-mo? It actually bounces spammers and makes it appear your email addy doesn't exist. Is that kewl or what? As with all downloads, be careful - READ the tutorial. And kudos to the New Zealand folks for this wonderful program! My donation is on its way!

A 79 year old man approaches the judge's bench. He hands a note to the bailiff. Because he cannot speak he has written down that he is computer illiterate and doesn't own a computer. His wife sits sobbing. In the back of the courtroom and over by the prosecutor members of the RIAA sit laughing and sniggering. He has been swept up in the furor of the Gestapo strikes and accused of downloading 774 files off the internet. The family is distraught and frightened. They may lose everything they own. This happened only a few days ago in a court in the United States! What if this was your father and mother in this courtroom? If we keep sitting by silently and doing nothing, they may be next.

Give me a break! Why is this happening? The man not only didn't own a computer he had no idea how to find the power button to activate it! And the slimeballs at the RIAA Temple of Doom will get away with this persecution; they don't care if your guilty or not! Tell your neighbors. Write your Congressmen. Talk to your Pastor, Minister, Rabbi, Priest and pray to God! Click on the RIAA boycott link and find out more about this madness. Our rights are being violated and we stand by, once again, doing nothing.

Do not buy any prerecorded music unless all the funds go directly to the artist. Check your favorite artist's web site and see if downloads are offered. The RIAA leeches thrive on the hard work and efforts of others. Not only do they bleed the artists now they are going after the American Public. I endorse paying for downloads as long as fair price is involved and the RIAA isn't receiving one red cent. Geek speak with a southern drawl

Over at SOUTHERN-PHRIED things are progressing. We actually launched the site several weeks ahead of schedule and are awaiting our host to upgrade the site. They have had our money since mid November and are dragging their feet. It's also planned to do the same here. One thing at a time. I realize they are experiencing transition; Google recently purchased them.

We really need this upgrade to take place. Our page parameters and style won't be set until all this happens. ChynaMoon has created a really kewl title banner and it needs to be seen. We also need the ability to post images because we have several articles that will be pix intense such as Red Dragon's case mods. Anyway, the site is up and people are posting really infomative and sometimes hilarious articles. You can recognize each writer by their avatar that resides in the top left corner of each entry (mine is a blue parrothead, LOL). Everyone has links posted.

Eventually there will be bios of all the geeks/nerds that belong to this eclectic group. Each member shares a love for the South and technology. These common bonds should make for some interesting interactions. We encourage all to email and have a comments section that is working to some degree. Official grand opening will be January 2nd, 2004. We already have advertisers and will gladly talk to those people interested in placing banners on this site.

Also, readers are encouraged to submit articles, etc. for posting. There will be NO popup ads and no one will ever be spammed. We will help anyone wanting to stop these horrible nuisances. Life's casual and that's a good thing

This has been a nice easy day. Sometimes you just have to sit down and let the batteries recharge. Am looking forward to a good day at work tomorrow followed by the decorating of the Beach House Christmas tree. The red and blue decorations help me celebrate an Ole Miss Christmas, LOL. Next weekend I hope to finish all the shopping.

Tomorrow we shall cook out and do burgers. Be a nice switch from the turkeyfied food that has been enjoyed this week. The weather should be nice with temperatures in the high 50s or low 60s. Early in the afternoon work will call and this weather will help that go by quickly. Then another day of relaxation! The evening will be topped off by watching my newest Jimmy Buffett DVD.

My Odyssey coffee came in and it's time for another cup! Everyone stay safe and keep the welfare of your fellow humans in mind this season.

Marty!!! The popup killers are here!!

Marty from West Tennessee emailed and asked about popup stoppers, blockers, killers, etc. I recommend two. Check the links for AnalogX and surf to the Network section. There you will find POW which has garnered 100% approval from all people that have tried it after coming here. This is an old trusted website full of goodies and they are FREE! The other is the Google toolbar. Just install the toolbar and be sure n let them anonymously record some stuff (I think they can be trusted, LOL) and use the default settings. This has many neat features and the pop up blocker is awesome. That's right there is no link posted. If you aren't using Google then you must be in the giggle house or comtemplating stone. Only the insane and cave dwellers haven't used this wonderful site!

Steven, From Aberdeen, MS. was having problems with sound drivers. His Hewlett Packard was upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 and the sound card resides on the motherboard. After spending hours searching for a sound driver on the HP website he gave up. Then he found Driverguide.com. Nice site that posts drivers for many applications. So, if needing a hard to find driver visit this site. Be sure and read the reviews that accompany the downloads and see if it does work for others. Great site!

Okay I did something last night that I need not do again. I tried to watch the 'Big 2003 Awards' thangy on VH1. Wanted to see Matchbox 20 and Shania Twain perform. Both of these performances were stellar. Cheesy Bill Maher (a worm of a human being that should win the faux intellectual award for life) introduced Natalie Maines as the winner of most outrageous statement of the year award. She continued to make horrible statements and apparently doesn't know when to shut her ugly, smarmy, dumbass mouth! Why give this award anyway? It's like giving an award for the best mass murderer. Lord help us!

Please consider the next statement carefully. DON'T BUY DIXIE CHICKS CDs!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope these unAmerican jerks move to Iran or France where they belong. God knows the strongest, bravest country in the world doesn't need their likes drumming up hatred. It's my right to say what I feel just like this horrible, little, smelly, evil person. On getting in the way of a well planned road trip...

The Laundry Witch just messaged me and said get off my lazy butt and post. What's that stuff in turkey that makes you sleep? Tryptophan? Well it was rampant here yesterday. The couch monster is in league with it too. K, saw some great DVDs yesterday, acted like I cleaned the house and put up the Christmas tree. Then my oldest daughter and her husband came by for a visit.

They are up from Baton Rouge and are sequestered at the ex's house due to a huge family get together. So I was able to spend a few hours with them and it was absolutely great!! They won't be here for Christmas. It's Jay's parents' turn since they were here last year. Come the 1st week in February I dare anyone or anything to get in the way of my first visit to Baton Rouge since they moved there.

Enough is enough. Have vacation days I will lose and that WILL not happen. Seems like something always comes up to trash my planned time off. So, other family members, work associates, the hidden agenda planners of the days of my life, all meteorologists, you are on notice. Screw with me the first week in February, 2004, and I won't be the last one to die! That's it! Happy trails! Hope to be back tomorrow!

Up early still working on the same two PCs. Somewhat frustrating to have both almost healed yet knowing there are still some problems. The laptop has a dialer that just keeps showing up so it's time for more Google. Desktop is probably destined for clean install later today. Did some cooking yesterday and have a Christmas tree. House is a wreck and I have to work today. All in all, things are just about normal.

Thanksgiving is a great holiday. Just think, friends and family will assemble to eat and celebrate life. I will get to spend time with both my daughters and sons-in-law plus our real boss, Maddie. Tomorrow is not the target day though. I hope to finish several projects and will spend the day alone, God willing. I prefer it this way. Then Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday will be devoted to hanging out with everyone. Absolutely won't be control phreaky and try to dominate their time. Love 'em too much for that to happen.

Those that will travel this holiday please be careful. Traffic will be especially bad. This is not a time to be in a hurry. Reach your destination safely and watch the other drivers! Don't imbibe the refreshing alcoholic beverages and get behind the wheel. If you do, I pray to God the long arm of the law throws you under the jail! Nuff said!

Phones, piggies, prattle n such

Trying to do battle with two machines. One's a desktop I built several years ago and the other is an older laptop running PII with 128 meg o' sdram. The OS is XP Home. It's not happy. Trying to increase the memory. It also has a dialer/trojan that is hiding. It will be found. The desktop may get the Format C: salute. May have taken a power surge hit because three PCI devices have failed. Such is life.

Anyone that has tried to call on the cell please take note that it is off. It was stated here several weeks ago that the abuse of people calling and rambling on probably will prompt work to kill the phone. How many times does someone have to say don't call unless it's an emergency? Oh well, the service is probably gone and I cannot afford to replace it out of my own pocket. Guess I shoulda' just been rude and hung up, huh?

Talking about phones - attempts to make me feel guilty because my phone is busy all the time just won't work. Whenever the VistaIIIMedia cable people decide to make this area asynchronous it will release the cable modem telco uplink. Even then I will not have call waiting - despise it. And the next person that mentions my phone stays busy all the time will be disconnected. I live alone and am somewhat aware of when my phone is in use. There are email addys posted here and at southernphried. Use them.

I shoulda' known better with a PC like you

Always a feeling of accomplishment to return home safely from a road trip. Spent the day with my Mother and Brother Dan n his family. Great to see all of them. Everyone was in a good mood and I suffered very little on the outgoing trip. Traffic was minimal on the way up and I knew it would not be the same on the flipside. Well, the 'sport' drivers didn't let me down. It rained almost all the way home and near collision was rampant. Glad to be back at the beach house.

Now it's time to do battle with a machine I've had way too long. Several pieces of hardware were found defective (ahhh the power surge or lightning thangy) and some of the drivers didn't like the conversion from Win98SE to Windows 2000. It's always best to format and do a new install and this should have been my first move. Now, with large amounts of egg on my face, that's probably the order of the evening. Yes, this is my fault. I know better. Sometimes you just gotta' try creativity. Sometimes you have to use the old melon what resides on top of the body. But hey, we all make mistakes.

Just got in from early Christmas shopping. Thought there'd be no one out the weekend before Thanksgiving; was I wrong! K, I don't like what has happened to the celebration of Jesus's birthday. Call me Scrooge or whatever, but the spirit is that of money instead of good will towards women and men. If people really had good will toward their fellow humans they'd make their crumbsnatching children behave in public. Wal-mart sucks because it's a playground where all the rude children in the world come to assault the elderly and defenseless. Don't say anything to these irresponsible mothers and fathers though, it'll get you in trouble. I can testify!! Been there and done that! Doesn't work so just do what I do and go very late at night when all the little ill-mannered urchins are asleep dreaming about their next conquest of the elderly. The parents seem to think it's perfectly fine for their yardapes to stomp all over complete strangers. Manners are quickly becoming a lost art. "Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Liberal Democrat." "Thank you ACLU." You are destroying part of the American way that has helped us survive. Gosh, the return of duelling as a way of life will help!! I know it will! LOL.

I did get a lot of shopping done and survived (didn't go in that evil Wal-Mart either!). It used to be fun, but I guess that part of life is gone. Well need to go get my half-full glass. I seemed to have misplaced it momentarily....

Friday is a wonderful day. It means there are only two more days to work this week. Thursday's post was nil due to being out of town, coming in late and falling asleep. Spent the day in Starkville, MS., fighting a DSL problem that was, and is, unusual. Soon this matter will be history. Now we wait for the replacement CISCO router to arrive. The unusual part is that the bellsouth.net techs were actually helpful and friendly!! This is real frightening. It's never happened before! If my old butt hadn't been so tired this day could have started with me banging my head on the bottom of the bed! They hardly ever help and phone company falsehoods always abound.

Taking a trip Sunday. Leaving early to visit Mother and attend church services with her. Tomorrow will be spent working as will Sunday evening. Too many ailing PCs are visiting in the Beach House. Please beware of virus infections. Three of these five machines in for repair have some flavor of cybervirii. The newest strain of pinf/parite is very difficult to remove. If I ever meet the little worm that wrote this junk there will be several cans of whup-ass opened because one beating just ain't enough! Yes, I will pray for him Sunday morning and also pray that he is caught and thoroughly manhandled when taken to jail. Everyone take care and have a super Friday!

The other is a site called Chyna Moon Designs. This site has many layers and lotsa info! It is also a very kewl looking site with sounds to astound. Be sure and check out the depth here. Great goodies abound!! The writing is extraordinary and the web design is some of the best!!

Symantec is offering a rebate on their antivirus scan program, Norton's. Slashdot posted an article yesterday where some antivirus software company is offering their software to home users at no cost for one year. Grisoft's AVG antivirus scanner has been free for years and is still the program used at the Beach House. It has never failed me. I update every 3 days and scan once a day. If you just have to spend money most folks like Norton's Anti-Virus. But Great Googly Moogly!, don't get Norton's Internet Security!! It's a package that has different tools for online protection including the virus scan software and it is horrible. I've seen it wreak havoc on a network. It is extremely hard to uninstall and seems to cause more problems than all the web evils put together. Purchase JUST the antivirus program! If you are running McAfee, please don't ask me to work on your unprotected machine. Don't even bring it into my yard. How does this horrible company stay in business? Kevin Rose, TechTV guru, likes their firewall. I use ZoneAlarm; it's free and does a great job. No McAfee for me.

AVG? Click on the link listed on this site and download the free version. Be sure and give them a valid email address because they will send you a code to activate the product. When installing just use the defaults and let it finish. Be sure to restart. Let it update if needed. Let it scan. Have trusty floppies on hand and make disk/disks. Now do a few tweaks.

Find the update manager and change it from the default setting of every 14 days to no more than 3 days. While there on the Update Manager page uncheck the user confirms dial up box so it can check for updates when you are away from the computer. Then schedule AVG to run every day. Now here's the real trick. Always make sure your virus definitions are up to date. Let's say you use a laptop and it has been in the trunk all week (absolutely won't mistreat mine that way). When you finally get it out and online, go immediately to the Update Manager tab and make it manually update. Then run a full scan. If you haphazardly get on the web without doing this then your chances for infection go off the scale.

Remember having an anti-virus scan program on your computer is not worth a plug nickel if the definitions are not up to date. I don't care if you live BF, Egypt, and can only sign on at 9600k, DO THE VIRUS DEFINITIONS UPDATE! Symantec thru SARC has a wonderful site that really helps when recovering from a virus infection. These tools are powerful and are designed for power users. If you don't know what your doing seek help. Hat's off to them for making this available. They blow Grisoft (AVG) away concerning online support, but Grisoft is a European company and they do provide us with free protection. Just update those definitions in any and every case. It'll make your personal confuser happy.

Emails have arrived about backing up data. 'If not the backup that's resident in the Windows OS's then what?', seems to be the question. K, how many times am I going to say - crawl out of that cave and use Google !?!? I just looked and there are over 1,700,000 hits when you type in "back up utilities free". Please put Google in your favorites and download the registry entry that makes Google your default search engine. One small, easy to use alternate backup program can be found at Mike Lin's Page. The name of the program is RapidBackup. Mike is a student at MIT and I have mentioned him several times in the past. If you use the program a few days and like it, then go back and leave something in the tip jar on his site. MIT is not free you know, so help the dude out. Backups can save you from the dragon and I guarantee he will appear when you least expect it!

Backup dat data!!!

Well, I cancelled cooking out yesterday due to a "massive rain squall" rolling over the north Mississippi hills. The way the weather channel swami's talked we were gonna need Noah before mid-afternoon. Ubertech Jim reminded me that Lewis Black, a really funny comedian, states that the root word of meteorologist is liar, LOL. Okay it did start raining, but it was like 8:00pm. Anyway, we coulda' cooked burgers and everyone would have gone home in the rain. So rescheduling is in the works.

Southern-Phried is off to a good start. We are still tuning the site and had a minor problem yesterday, but it was quickly resolved. Due to Beagle's penchant to back up everything little data was lost.

Backing up is so important. When their personal confuser shows up with them and they are in tears saying they forgot to back up, it does not impress me much. Remember, one of the simplest ways to cure windows problems is doing a drive format and reinstall. With the advent of the NT5 kernel in windows a simple re-install is not as easy as it used to be and this is a good thing - for security reasons. So find a way to back up your critical data. Don't worry about applications or your operating system; you should have that software stored in some safe place. Buying the best hard drive you can find is the first step in backing up. Do not go for the cheapies. There is RAID, but that discussion is a post in the making. RAID is expensive and probably not necesary in the home computer situation. Some folks use tape drives (which I detest), others use CD-RW drives, and there are kits that let you back up to an external hard drive through the USB port. I use the CD-RW method and it works nicely for this network scenario. Considering the external hard drive kit though. It worked well in our bench tests and makes sense that this is a very secure way to save data. Oh yeh, if you go to purchase a tape drive DAT seems better than Travan. The tapes are less expensive, the tapes are smaller and, at least in this area, more readily available. Also, try to find a backup program other than the one resident in Windows. It sucks. Just incorporate some type of backup into your system. Check the media on occasion and verify that everything is working properly.

Have to do some stuff in the garage and then work on personal confusers the rest of the day. So I will do the breakfast/coffee dance then wade to the garage and start organizing 'stuff'. Just hope that evil smelling thing has left. You know, the other day I thought I heard it say, "Steviepoo Jobs is my daddy!"

Brother Dan and I spent many hours listening to Mr. Hendrix and others of that genre way way back when and it's just apropo to remember such long ago strange wild days that sometime seem like surreal images provoked by dreams of delusion and illusion. Dan is a musician and it just came to mind. Anyway, was able to talk to him and he was laughing about how he spent his day off working!

'Timing is of essence' it has been said. We no more than get Southern-Phried launched and my internet connection went whacky. I did post a few minutes ago and think this will be a really neat, fun place to visit. No doubt, you can find various opinions, rants, raves, etc. spewing forth from this group, LOL.

It's back to bed for me. Have a dirty house and garage to clean and the Southern-Phried group will be here this pm for burgers n refreshing beverages. First though, another hour or two of sorely needed rack time. Yep, that's right - need my ugly rest.

I am just not worthy!

Dedication is a strange wonderful thing. People have been up until the wee hours of the morning tuning this new site. Our main architect, Beagle, had a frustrating problem last night and dropped from exhaustion and Mudslingr picked up the ball and ran with it. This type of dedication makes for wonderful results. The problem solved was critical to the actual loading and continued functioning of this site and they are troopers to the Nth degree! Thanks guys! Also, I certainly will sell no one short - EVERYBODY involved has contributed! This is a very unique group and all the individuals involved are dedicated geeks not only in mind, but with the heart as well. We actually love what we do!!!

Tomorrow will be a very short post announcing the new site addy and one other message. Everyone use half full glasses, mugs, cups, etc. today!

Sorry about tirade mode. Cheesy people really irk me. The jerks at Gator are so chickensh-- they have changed their name. What a bunch of idiots. The RIAA approached some fellow nerdlings in Amory, MS, about a 30 minute drive southeast of Tupelo. They warned them to stop uploading their 4000+ library. Asswipes! This is an organization that is hell bent on resurrecting the Spanish Inquisition. If you go into the RIAA (or Gator!) board room there are probably swastikas on the walls! They should pray to Hitler and Satan every night and thank them that I probably won't be elected Ruler of the Known Universe. I'd have 'em all horsewhipped and flung into a volcano!

Somehow I have to get out of this state of mind. Guess I'll go home and try and evict that evil smelling thing that has taken up residence in the back of my garage. Stress relief for a geek...

Folks, please don't download weatherbug, precision time, that stupid calender, etc. This is all Gator propaganda and it is SPYWARE in spite of what they say! Screw the evil bastards! This is horrible stuff that is a nightmare to uninstall. This type of cyber abuse is equal to virus infections! Sneaky stuff that constantly reports activity to others so they can bombard you with ads n other barnyard material. If you have it on your PC download Spybot search and destroy and remove it. It's Alive! It's Alive!

Worked late on the new page last night. Actually, a few of us got together and watched our HTML goddess at work. There were major changes and the launch is ahead of schedule. Everything may be in place to make an official announcement this week. Sorry, but I am just geeky enough to tell you that this has been a blast. I have laughed out loud on several occasions.

While watching this thing come together I thought of how kewl it was that Mudslingr sat at another machine here doing stuff, Nookin4Nub-inthe662 sat at his crib participating and Beagle was at home orchestrating it all over a communal yahoo chat - constantly astounding us with an array of templates and colors. We have a logo now and it reflects the spirit of what this is all about - it's fun! Ubertech Jim (aka ARCIII) came later and did an awesome post, Red Dragon made some great comments and Corinth Chris (aka Grasshoppa) has been a constant supply of great info and ideas. We got Uncle Snake and Verdana signed in too.

When starting this project it seemed like a good idea to bring geeks/nerds in our area together for a general forum. Corinth Chris n I started talking about this months ago and it is great to see talented people come together and work like "robots" to make this happen. I think everyone will really like the cyberwit and cyber info. The core group is diverse in fields and some opinions. Avatars for each member are being developed and they will reflect this diversity.

We by no means are limited to our own devices. Comment bars are in place and we hope to have many people rant and rave through articles sent to us. Hey, I am so taken with all this I am actually looking for an Apple person to submit stuff. Of course, you better have thick skin to run with this Windows/FreeBSD/Linux bunch.

Gotta go, the shower beckons, n I am looking for one of those 'wonderful Mondays' the Laundry Witch has talked about in the past. Well an uneventful Monday will do...

I say there-a boy, Ima' not a chicken!

Microsoft has leaked info about their new OS for several months now. It's presently titled Longhorn. Whether or not the leaks are intentional we will probably never know for sure. There's a lot of vague articles floating around the web and great speculation as to what the dudes n dude-ettes in Redmond are doing. There is constant chatter about the release date being pushed back to late 2005 or early 2006. Then there are several frightening mentions that they may issue an interim version. Great googlymoogly! Did they not learn their lesson with Windows ME (Millenium)? The least successful operating system in the history of the company that most people love to hate was only forgiven because Windows 2000 was and is way kewl. So people quickly forgot and forgave Microsoft for ME. I do realize there are some folks that like ME. Hey, after formatting and doing a complete install, go directly to Windows update and download ALL updates. Make the floppies and NEVER count on the Restore function to work. ME ain't that bad. It's just that Windows 2000 is soooooooooo much better. Ok, back to Foghorn Longhorn.

Looks like they'll have a clock on the opening screen. Also, a function exists called sidebar that is supposed to make our life easier. There are changes in the way the file system will work. Let's see, a few of the new file system names being thrown around are WINFS and NETFS. Ubertech Jim tells me that NETFS is not a new idea, but one that has been rehashed. The work of video and audio integration is supposed to make all the gamers happy, something about 120 pixel count versus the 95 pixel count now present in XP. Server tools, i.e. ClickOnce, will make the IT/IS people happy. Along that line, it looks like Yukon will ship late next year. This is supposed to be the 'mac-daddy' (sorta funny description about a Microsoft product, huh?) of databases that will replace SQL which is pronounced sequel. Anyway, if you are jonesing for info on this latest offering do a Google search and you'll be happy. Just don't get it confused with things related to the University of Texas mascot. If you want to have some fun, search for Foghorn LEGhorn and enjoy things relevant to my second favorite Looney Tunes character. Hey, who doesn't like the world's greatest curmudgeon - Yosemite Sam!?

Can't post this without saying something about Linux. Bill Gates is smart enough to know that if he doesn't do something wonderful in a timely manner more people will dabble in Linux. He's also smarting because the world's 'biggest asshole' Steve Jobs, is reaping great financial rewards with 'wayyy too pricey legal' music downloads. So Billyboy may up the schedule and pump out the latest offering sooner than one thinks. In the meantime, it might not hurt to look at Linux Red Hat . I find something new to like about it all the time. Free BSD is still an ongoing project. It's been a victim of the flu at this house and I hope to return to this install in the near future. Ubertech Jim loves Free BSD and Corinth Chris is a huge fan of Linux. Both of these guys are core members of the new site. There will be articles on these alternative operating systems.

The new page is still being developed. My recent whinefest with the flu slowed everything down around me except the Hitler strikers being pissed because I was sick. Anyway, we are on track and small changes keep happening that make things better. The present structure is basic and hopefully the real template will be in place in the next week or so. Then we have to decide placement. After that the posts will start. Yes, we are having fun. A place for geeks of the south to air and share is just darn near a necessity. The door is always open for comments and suggestions.

I am aware of the problem with comments. They work sometimes; like right now. Never has it been said that I am Emporer of HTML. This is a work in progress and I just installed the comments tag a few weeks ago. Need to send the developer money and have a chat. Then I may be educated enough to make it work. In the meantime, if someone knows how to fix it, please email me.

Missed posting last night. Am languishing slovenly in bed trying to let the flu run it course. Dr. John said, "Rest my boy, and stay away from stress for a few days." So I am staying horizontal today. Work planned tomorrow, n it'll be taken in slow stride. I see a flu shot in my near future. Here in our corner of paradise the weather is awesome. I have the windows open and am enjoying watching the birds out of my bedroom window that faces south over the patio. Even though ailing it's great to enjoy life. Being ill sucks. The bathroom tour is getting old. Can't sleep, can't eat; right out of a Robert Palmer tune.

My ability to sit in a vertical position hasn't been great, but we have started on the new site. It'll take a few weeks to get it tuned, but I am surrounded by kewl, diverse individuals. We are busy laying the groundwork to produce a slick site that all y'all will like and talk about. The name has been decided, but let us get things a little more structured and then I'll announce it with the gusto of a hound-dawg. After reading some of the comments posted here and there we may decide to make it a comedy site instead of tech-help (a joke).

Am home sick trying to recover once and for all from this horrible flu/earache/gastro-nasty. Really wanted to see Matrix Revolutions tonight, but don't want to stray that far from my bathroom and medicine cabinet. May post later this evening if feeling better. Alas, where's our Uncle Snake when we need him? (it's almost Matrix time again)

Laundry Witch sent a Yahoo IM saying that Monday can be a wonderful day. I will try to hold this thought in my feeble mind until next week. The PC that resided at the house all weekend was not happy as it returned to its desk early yesterday. It's back on my bench again. Contrary to being contrary, it is presently warm and fuzzy. I re-taught it a favorite phrase * format C: * Enjoying this helps me deal with my control phreakiness. All drivers are installed. Now we will take it down a notch and install the Satan software Word Perfect on it. No one said the zeroes n ones would always line up right.

Matrix Revolutions will air Wednesday night. Be neat to see where this ends or goes. Mudslinger, Arial, others n myself will be there. Hate that Uncle Snake and Verdana won't be here to go, but they are planning on seeing it in Baton Rouge. Watching Animatrix and it fills a lotta' gaps. Nice work too. There are 9 tales and the animation styles vary. Watched the first Matrix last night and Reloaded several times last week. If you are a geek/nerd type these movies are almost mandatory.

RIAA NOT!!!!!!!!!!

The RIAA mule-asses are back at it again. Stupid lawsuits flying and the 'woosie fraidy cats' giving them money. Something needs to be done about these jerks. Seems most of us endorse paying for downloads (a reasonable amount), and we can still record ANYTHING off radio or TV for free!. Here's why - radio and TV have paid the RIAA 'juice money". Without this graft and the thug charge on each music cd, thug charges on music systems (like in malls) the RIAA cannot exist!

Let's get rid of these rotten, smelly, slimy, perverted, devil worshiping, sons and daughters of those who haunt red light districts !!! Stop buying prerecorded CDs!!! Write to your favorite musician and tell them you'd love to download directly from their web site and send them the money not the RIAA! Write your Congressmen and tell them that Nazism is not tolerated! Be verbal about this and stop the persecution of innocent people!!!! Let everyone know we want to pay for music downloads, but we don't want to pay the RIAA under any circumstances!. They must cease and desist FOREVER!

Civilization does not need hitman/mafioso mentality, but okay, let's say fight fire with fire! Make dueling legal and I'll challenge everyone of the scumbags! 60s music n Star Trek philosophy

The PC that has been on the bench is still not happy and my cold may be trying to make a 3rd or 4th comeback. The Mamas and Papas had it right when singing, "Monday Monday, just can't trust that day." Really tough starting a week in maximum failure overdrive. But, you know what? There's a very good chance things will get better! LOL

Anyone have a webmail service they recommend? The mail.com people have become ridiculous. Glad I waited to upgrade otherwise their little nasty tricks might not have become apparent. Being asked is much better than being coerced (God, I despise control freaks). Such a sad thing to see a good site deteriorate. As often said here, dueling should be brought back. Anyway, a good webmail sight is needed. May end up yahooing and getting 5000 pieces of spam a day. There is a way to stop all spam there. Use filters and give all your emailers a code word to put in the subject line.

Hang on to your barbeque grills and secret sauce because I've got a really kewl site for you. Mlin.net is a site created and maintained by a 19 year old student at MIT. Mike Lin started this site several years ago and has some really nifty utility programs for ALL Windows users. His Start Up Control Panel is a must for those using Windows 2000. He has a Rapid Backup program that is easy to install and use. Seesaw is great if managing a PC with two processors. Startup monitor helps keep trojans, etc away. Just go to this site and take a look. N if you like something, go back n hit that tip jar! MIT isn't free.

Have to go work on a PC that needs to return to its desk early tomorrow morning. Those whom I have given my pager number, throw it away. Hell, I wasn't just not answering the pager, I didn't even answer the damned doorbell. Anyone that has had this malady understands. Those that haven't, hit your knees and pray prayers of gratitude because it is so painful you actually want to die. I have asked people to please not use the cell phone unless you have an emergency and now it will be gone January 1, 2004. On the same note, everyone should know that my sense of duty WILL permit calls to my home if you feel it's necessary. God knows that many problems have been resolved over the cell phone in the past years, but now they will have to wait until the evening hours. Hopefully by then the cable modem will be asynchronous and the phone line won't stay busy. I need both jobs to make ends meet and cannot afford another expense. This post may be one of those that gets one fired or in deep doodoo. Screw it, the truth is the truth n I must get to the PC mentioned above. God help us all.
