Random Thursday: Katy 1 PBS O.

Saturday Night Live has not been a favorite of mine for quite sometime. Their constant liberal chatter is 180 degrees from back in the day when they made fun of everybody and everything. This I watched since I had been told it would air. I think it is an absolute hoot! Pun intended. WARNING: Some may not want to watch because of content and it's not for children. When this aired, why would your children be up this late?. That said, take a look at Katy Perry and the SNL crew strike back at Sesame's Street doofus decision. If you do watch make sure to check out Katy's top. That's a unique version of Elmo:

I've seen this 5 times and still laugh. I declare Ms. Perry the unanimous winner and champion of this silly, unnecessary circus! Thank you SNL and Lorne Michaels for returning to a great format. Like to see more of it. And hey, this was not nearly offensive as Dan Aykroyd's Bass-o-Matic skits!!! (They were also funny and a bit offensive to some).

Excellent Guildeline

Rules for Kickin' Ass (Rules for the Non-Military)

Make sure you read #13

Dear Civilians,

We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military.

For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance:

1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem - kick their ass.

2.. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American Flag in protest - kick their ass.

3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make

this Nation great. Then hold them down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass.

4. If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were.Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle Fatigues, or be telling others that you used to be 'Special Forces'. Collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when you were seven years old, now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked.

5. Next time you come across an *Air Force* member, do not ask them, 'Do you fly a jet?' Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass-kicking (children are exempt).

6. If you witness someone calling the Coast Guard 'non-military', inform them of their mistake - and kick their ass.

7. Next time Old Glory (the US flag) prances by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of course, failure to do either of those could earn you a severe ass-kicking.

9. 'Your mama wears combat boots' never made sense to me - stop saying it! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and therefore would kick your ass!

10. 'Flyboy' (*Air Force*), 'Jarhead' (*Marines*), 'Grunt' (*Army*), Squid' (*Navy*), 'Puddle Jumpers'(*Coast Guard*), etc., are terms of

endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Using them could get your ass kicked.

11. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of the military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our Country would get it's ass kicked.

12. It's the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.

It's the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.

It's the Veteran, not the community organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.

It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

AND ONE MORE:

13. If you ever see anyone singing the national anthem in Spanish - KICK THEIR ASS!

Thank you EdC for a great email. God Bless America!

Music Monday - An Innovator

It's very tiring to keep arguing people down as to whether or not Nancy Wilson of Heart can really play the guitar. Take a look.

I hope this argument is over with permanently. BTW this is not a new video by any means.

New Business Review. SwinTech Designs Rock!

SwinTech Designs has been added to the Links List. This is a young company that builds rad, bad gamers' delights. Specializing in high end gaming rigs at decent prices, they are a one stop shop where you can pick up a screaming fast machine and then also order your monitor, gaming keyboard, headset, etc. They carry top notch products and build truly awesome PCs.

The overall look of the site is very clean yet has enough pop to not be considered stoic. Folks there intend for you to have a nice visit if shopping or ordering. Navigation is very easy and detailed specifications are listed for the enthusiast that wants more info. As you will see only top notch cases, motherboards, video cards, CPUs, and other components are used. You can go either Intel or Amd. They hand build each individual machine for each individual customer. PayPal is onboard to keep your money safe and easily transferred.

To answer a question that arose about gaming a few days ago: Why not use an Apple? Although they have made great strides to improve their product line they are just not meant for online gaming. Most games do not have Apple versions of their product. Also let's face facts. PC gaming machines are hot rods compared to your average sedan like Apple. Apple computers are still not price competitive and they don't have the wide selection of components needed to really custom tailor your unit. Apple does several things that are outstanding. Handling photos, media files, editing software is where they shine. But for now the mighty Intel and AMD Windows platforms are definitely the choice of a serious gaming person.

Go visit SwinTech and take a look around. You'll see quality throughout the pages which I think is reflective of their immaculate work. Yes, I am impressed. When you're hot you're hot! They also happen to be nice polite people that speak English with perfect diction and clarity.

Saga of the Mighty Whine Might Be Ending

The dual processor workstation that I've been fighting seems to have given up the battle. Temperatures are now decent and staying well within limits. Runs smoothly after swapping chips in sockets, using arctic silver heat sink medium and reconfiguring the hardware. When you have huge heat sinks with definite directional requirements it's best to adhere instead of using them bass-ackwards. Oh well, just another in a long line of mistakes. Tough machine to bench. Yet it is outstanding as far as performance. Rocks Guild Wars for sure. Multi-taskiing is not a problem. All in all a super save with all our combined efforts after replacing the defective motherboard. Shouts out to all those that have helped! Just goes to show with the right tweaks an older unit can still walk that dog! I have little doubt this computer can run Window 7 (32bit) with ease.

That's it. Later!

Randon Thursday - Elmo

Someone decided not to air this video on Sesame Street. The reasoning behind this decision is that she showed too much cleavage. Seems they wouldn't have asked Ms. Perry to participate if they wanted a "grandmother" figure to sing the tune. How about Miss Piggy instead? Wait, she's probably too busy lusting after a frog. What's your opinion? Harmless cute song that kids would find fun? After all, are they really paying attention to her clothes? If they are then they are probably too old to watch Sesame Street, huh? Or is it really that offensive? C'mon don't hold back use the comments. If you don't want ppl to know your name then don't use it. But tell us what you think! Bad or good?

She's very pretty, but the fact that she's engaged to that weird English guy makes me wonder. Why did they ask her and then not go ahead with airing? K, being redundant now. Tell us what you think.

Battery Back Up Witch Doctor Techniques Made Simple

Some things are just logical and make sense. Then there are those mysteries of life that seem like voodoo, magic or some other form of the arcane. Technology is full of these shock and awe devices. Un-interruptible power supplies are a combination of both. For instance, take a look at this illustration:

It plainly states that the receptacles on the left are for items that need battery back up in times of power outages and the receptacles on the right are for surge protection only. They even give you little pictures of the type of devices that should be plugged into either side.

Here's a Golden Rule of Battery Back Up usage: "If thou art found with ye old space heater pluggeth into one of these magical boxes, in any receptacle of any kindeth, then thy life shall be forfeit without trial or hearing and immediate death by being burned at the stake shall be enforced."

One of Ashy's favorite quotes is "Idiots are so much fun! Thats why every village either has one or wants one!" ~Dr. Greg House from TV's program House. For some reason I feel compelled to include this at this part of the post. And tell you to plug that damned space heater into the wall!

If you need help in selecting the appropriate device try APC's Online Wizard. It will help you make the right choice for your system. This is a very nice intuitive tool that may save you many dollars. It'll also make sure you are protected from possible power outages, power spikes, etc. Remember that Mother Nature rules this realm and nothing is foolproof.

Another Golden Rule of Battery Back Up usage: "SIT DOWN AND READ THE MANUAL BEFORE USING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hope this helps.

"The system of nature, of which man is a part, tends to be self-balancing, self-adjusting, self-cleansing. Not so with technology."

Another Music Monday on Tuesday

Several interesting things about this video that make it awesome. The song is over 30 years old. The man singing, Paul Rodgers, is the original crooner. He was with a group called Free and went on to have numerous hit's with a group named Bad Company. Now that's historical facts for all those 30 and under. For all us older dudes and dudettes, yes, that is really Brian May and Queen playing. Mr. Mercury had passed away several years beforehand. Have no idea where this was recorded or who did it. Just know the audio and video are great! Want to hear a rock and rock anthem? Take a listen:

Mr. Rodgers has certainly held up the past 30 years and I think his voice is even stronger today. Be sure and hear Brian do the guitar licks. This one will make you want to get up and dance. So...do it!!!

"On with dance, let joy be unconfined, is my motto; whether there's any dance to dance or any joy to unconfined."

Further Adventures Thrashing About On a Workbench

Ran into a problem last night with the rebuild on the bench doing a thermal shutdown. Have put two new fans on the CPU heatsinks and turned the rear fans and side fan out. It's helping some. Will try to let it shut down the hard drive and monitor then go into standy by. Tomorrow we'll see if it will return to normal state hopefully after a night of no D24 thermal light glaring. The heat sinks are actually cool to the touch so it makes me wonder if the 2nd CPU might be defective. There is around 50-60 degrees celsius (minimum) different in them yet both of the heatsinks feel the same. I'll try an hour or so of Guild Wars on it later in the day and if it survives without a thermal collapse then it should be ready to go home.

It has me wondering if when the motherboard crashed if it might have reached out and touched the second processor. Considered running it with just CPU number 0 (aka CPU1) and seeing how it performed. This is not new technology, but it does have good documentation. Lot of it and many intricate settings. Beyond a doubt the most difficult machine I've ever had on the bench. Wish I'd had that motherboard 9 months ago. Oh well, live and learn. Data was important to the owner. That is the most expensive charge I have in my bag of tricks. Try it sometime. You won't like it.

It is late and I am tired of trying to do Windows updates that keep failing. Every time I have to restart then about 12-15 things are turned off that run in the background and eat resources. I hate Yahoo with a passion and will NOT EVER permit it on one of my machines. Want adware? Desktop Hijackers? Trojans? Then by all means go to ye old Yahoo and get u some! Instant messenger applications suck unless it's Chatroll or Google. Better yet, pick up the phone and text or make a real call. Far more efficient use of time. Yahoo my ass. Try Boohoo!

It's wise not to argue this because I can show you proof just by googling 'Yahoo and spyware' at any time. After seeing a trillion gadzillion mega godzillizain or so articles where the no good devils at Yahoo try to act like good guys, believe me, they aren't wearing white hats. Yahoo goes to extremes in trying to stack the first pages with positive input, but read on folks. The tech types will tell you the facts of life. While the 'yodeler-hoos' are "removing malware" you can bet your sweet bippy you are getting bogged down with the same if it comes from Yahoo. Same problem just that now people that pay Yahoo are violating your privacy. But go right ahead and stay hell bent on using this garbage site. After all it's your machine and eventually you'll pay some tech to get it repaired because your stubborness must let coinage burn holes in your pockets.

Don't agree? Tough shit. I am right and you are wrong about this issue. And folks, that's my story and I am stickin' to it. Yes, I am tired and cranky. Later.

Finally, Daddy Didn't Take the T-Bird Away

Early once again. I won the battle...so far. The machine that I've been fighting needed a new mobo - and a dual processor motherboard at that, lol. Got it. installed it after much research and now have it amping to a steroid type tech thangy. Whew! If I didn't need money so much I'd take a day off to recover. That won't happen. Need to tune and upgrade which will take another 4 or 6 hours, but it's going home. Thank God. This has been a really drawn out experience of trying to make defective equipment perform in a non-defective way. Almost over. Many Windows updates, many updates from various sources. I really need a break. The Blue Plate Mayo Bank Jar will be on the porch. Deposits only and no withdrawals. Y'all have a nice day!

Early Morning Thoughts - Soft Random Thursday

If I could have the world slow down, I'd play music extremely moving. Then I'd do my best to help people see beauty. It walks in grace in my two daughters. They may not fully realize that, but I am so aware. Such thoughts don't leave my mind. Such goodness, such passion for life. If only people across all nations and barriers could feel this, we'd be a better planet. To hear a song that tugs at my heart and to see the tremendous shine radiated by two awesome spirits...God, oh I am so very very blessed. I truly am not worthy. Life consumes us and we so often forget that which is important. The moon is a harsh mistress and i have fallen hard. Their gentle touch in mind and spirit makes me cope. Yes, I am fortunate to put these words in print. I am fortunate to be me. Thank you, God.

My music plays on in all life. The younglings should know. For I love them as much as their Mothers. Okay, most of the time there's not a lot of sappiness here. Sometimes the truth compels you to say what is deep in the heart. I think, therefore I am and I love. No conditions. Thank you, God: So very very much.

Whine Whine Everywhere a Whine

Today it is time to win a battle. All year long, literally, I have been at war with a machine that almost makes the point of completion. Then it decides to go its own way thrashing about my bench laughing at me. No I am not inebriated, but this dilemma has on several occasions forced me to reach for a refreshing beverage. Sometimes they just won't cooperate in any shape, form, or fashion. To make matters worse, my head has been stuck inside this case for weeks. I've reached a point to where my life is suffering and the capability of doing anything else is impossible until this "machine" is returned to the owner. Even though I am not Catholic there may be a stop by their house of worship and a talk with a priest about possible exorcism. Then after delivering it I may check into mental health and see if they can run off the demons in my mind. Folks, this is the toughest troubleshooting I've ever experienced.

Let's see...the time has come to try a major man up to this monster and regain control. I'm praying.

Drawing or Printing?

Today, two programs that may be of interest to you. Ever wanted to do a layout in 3d? Don't have the coinage to obtain such a fantastic program? Well hold your refreshing beverages boys and girls! How about a VERY powerful rendering program with vast capability for free? Try Google Sketchup. After installing go to the gallery and see the vast capability of this application. Can we say most casual?

Bet you can read a .pdf file. Bet you can't create one. For those that need to turn Word, text, etc,. type documents into .pdf files how about another amazing program? Check out NitroReader. Looks like a good FREE program that will create .pdf documents with ease. Their EULA and privacy statement seem to be normal.

Two great freeware gems. As usual, if you mess up while downloading or installing don't whine to me. They work perfectly at the beach house, even on my Vista machine! Hope this helps.

NEVER NEVER NEVER FORGET!!!!!!

Today, the 9th anniversary of the most heinous attack against America, the jerk planning the mosque near ground zero says he wants what is best for everybody. His Imam-ness even blatantly states he fears this will inflame muslim terrorists if they don't build it. To hell with him and all his damned followers! Wonder how they'd like it if we started attacking their communities and killing innocent people? Look, I wish they'd all gather in the desert over there so we could do to them what they want to do to us. Screw the muslim terrorists. Let them all protest and attack the beach house. I've got something for their goat loving, camel kissing asses. If there are any real muslims out there with good hearts (sounds like convoluted logic to me) they are the ones that should be raising hell about this shrine to the Devil. If the jerkwater baboons in our governmemt don't man up, woman up and stop this affront to the people of the USA, they should be voted out of office. They too, are in league with the Devil and ARE the Great Satan of America.

Just in case you idiot socialist liberals have forgotten take a look at this picture and think about the familY heartaches caused by muslims! Tell you what, click on it and look at the expanded version of this horror:

IF THERE ARE ANY "GOOD" MUSLIMS OUT THERE reading this post please use the comments and tell me you are against this awful planning of mosque building. For God's sake, our "muslim leader" is too spineless to stand up for what is right! Hell, they are preoccupied with suing the Great State of Arizona for enforcing the law!!! You bastards know we had a war with massive internal strife and heartaches 150 years or so in the past. And realize where most of your military fighters come from today. Be careful and do what is right. Stop this insult. New Yorkers! Wake up! Don't let them murder all these people and then build a memorial celebrating it!

This Cruise Started in April 2003

Less than 500 to go for the 100 large!! Keep coming back! Appreciate all the visits and was impressed that so many emails came in about yesterday's post, yet there were no comments. It is a beautiful performance of a super tune and my favorite. They are awesome. I really want to see them, but the tickets sell out so fast you can't get 'em. For a brief time yesterday Google gave me a starred entry under "The Moon's a Harsh Mistress" inquiry. Hope it's back up. Been nice to be listed #1 for inquiries about Cybersouth.

There's been ups and downs. It's all been a a pretty darn good experience. Y'all are so polite and well mannered with one or two exceptions. Hope I've been some help or maybe you've laughed or been moved in some way to feel positive. With such a wide variety of subjects it's hard to be consistent on the original intent - tech help. It doesn't hurt any of us to be passionate about life and good experiences. Thanks out to all of you for bearing with my goofy Southern butt! LOL. Still listening...

Random Thursday - If This Doesn't Touch Your Heart, You're Dead

Thank you Mr. Webb for writing this moving ballad, thank you Mr. Downes for arranging and playing the piano. Mairead, thank you for making the strings sing soulfully into my heart. And Lisa. God has Blessed planet Earth by permitting your wonderful voice to be heard. I think this is truly as good as it gets...

They block embedding (Are they trying to kill sales?). Just click on the words in white when they show up on the black screen after you click the big arrow overlay on the picture. It'll redirect you to YouTube and start playing.

Now you know my all time favorite song. Now you know that beauty is truth, truth beauty. Today's title is stolen from 'winedoctor011' around page 4 in the comments.

~William Shakespeare

EDIT: Lyrics as requested:

See her how she flies
Golden sails across the sky
Close enough to touch
But careful if you try
Though she looks as warm as gold
The moon's a harsh mistress
The moon can be so cold

Once the sun did shine
Lord, it felt so fine
The moon a phantom rose
Through the mountains and the pines
And then the darkness fell
And the moon's a harsh mistress
It's so hard to love her well

I fell out of her eyes
I fell out of her heart
I fell down on my face
Yes, I did, and I -- I tripped and I missed my star
God, I fell and I fell alone, I fell alone
And the moon's a harsh mistress
And the sky is made of stone

The moon's a harsh mistress
She's hard to call your own.

Teamspeak Update

The Beach House Server is online and purring. Teamspeak is fine and we ALL appreciate Mudslingr n Beagle for their gracious loan of bandwidth for last weekend's festivities. Couldn't have done it without all the help! People are still raving about the food. Really sucks that I missed it.

When the Alienware server comes back to life you'll be notified. We are still configuring, but it should be things we are doing in the background and not interfere with usage. The address and port are the same. Ashy is still Server Admin and doing a fine fine job of regrouping. Glad we have come this far. Now to finish Red Dragon's machine then the Alienware will be next on the bench. If anyone has a dual core AMD 939 CPU they can spare I'll gladly take it for another build. Not for the Alienware, but another machine. The Alienware is Intel and we may upgrade to a faster board and chip. We'll see.

Anyone notice the sitemeter is approaching 100,000? Please visit. Have your family and friends visit. Have your neighbors visit. Teach the cat or dog to Google search for Cybersouth and click on it. Make it your home page. Print it out and post it everywhere! Be sure and have that family pet click on the one that says Cybersouth - From the Saltillo Beach House. It's usually the one at the top.

Long Weekend

The LAN Party was a great success, my newest rebuild is running smoothly now if we can just get Ole Miss to win a football game. MS State looked good this weekend and I hope they maul Auburn on Thursday night. Might end up being a heck of a ball game. Should see Ole Miss against Tulane this weekend and I hope that a different team in red, white and blue hits the field. They just officially did away with Colonel Reb as mascot and may need to bring him back!!!! Sometimes they amaze me. Has Obama sent an advisor to Oxford?

I support the Tea Party efforts, but hope they don't split the GOP vote like the Obama cast of idiots thinks will happen. Vote! Let's get Pelosi and Reid back where they belong: In the Peanut Gallery!

The Whining is Almost Over

Listened in on Teamspeak and heard a lot of laughter and people having a good time last night. Since experience has taught me not to miss medication an extra round was taken after one attack of the stomach grunge. There may not have been time for meds to be absorbed. Needless to say I was visiting la-la land, but still heard my friends having a great time. I'm glad. With the current stooges in office and this horrible economy not much laughter is heard nowadays.

We certainly owe Mudslingr a huge favor. He rescued our server situation plus, as always, let us borrow his grill. Heard the food was excellent and Ashy's brisket was a success. Beagle thanks for jumping in and preparing the cajun goodies sent by Cyndane. Thank you Cyndane for sending them. Felecia's house is always fun. Thanks to everyone that brought items. I hear Mrs. Hoppa's LAN Party Dip was once again the bombdiggity! Wish I had been there. Was so looking forward to it. Now that I am tempted to eat something the smell of bar-b-q and all the other delicious foods dance around in my head. Alas, my budget permits 2 cans of chicken noodle soup. Sure beats nothing.

Folks, am still shaky and just not up to facing the server problem today. Am going back to bed or spend some time taking it easy. It should be back online tomorrow. I apologize for my stupidity. Later.

Gosh Darn It All

After all the hoopla about today's LAN Party I missed it. Apologize for not being there. It would have been nice to take a few hours, forget about all my troubles and enjoy the company of friends. Good Lord willin' my butt will be at the next one. Excuse me while I go say "buick ralph" to the porcelain throne.

Call or Email if You Need Directions

With the LAN Party coming up, Felecia's house on Saturday, I decided to show an older GW2 video. Most Guild Wars players have seen it, but it's still interesting. Latest Guild Wars 2 release date seems to be 11/3/2010. Take a looK:

PC Build

The machine is up and running . Had to substitute a dual Core Athlon for the Opteron 180 CPU. I broke a pin on the Opteron. Makes me sick! The new CPU is doing a great job though. Mega fans and the temperatures are staying well within an acceptable range. The 1gig graphics card is awesome. Picture is gorgeous. Machine is fast! I know the technology is several years old, but it plays Guild Wars flawlessly. I am pleased. It's great to have a workstation again. It took a while for everything to come together. Well worth the wait though. Now I have another unit that needs assembly as soon as I come up with another CPU. Again, fubaring that Opteron 180 makes me ill! You live and learn. Am grateful for what I have and it could have been much worse.

Don't forget Saturday's LAN party. It'll be a blast. They always are fun and it's nice to associate with positive, happy people. We've got a good group actually a great group. It's super to have friends.

I have to say thanks to Felecia and Ashy again for their help with the new machine. Could'nt have done it without y'all!
