Battery Back Up Witch Doctor Techniques Made Simple

Some things are just logical and make sense. Then there are those mysteries of life that seem like voodoo, magic or some other form of the arcane. Technology is full of these shock and awe devices. Un-interruptible power supplies are a combination of both. For instance, take a look at this illustration:

It plainly states that the receptacles on the left are for items that need battery back up in times of power outages and the receptacles on the right are for surge protection only. They even give you little pictures of the type of devices that should be plugged into either side.

Here's a Golden Rule of Battery Back Up usage: "If thou art found with ye old space heater pluggeth into one of these magical boxes, in any receptacle of any kindeth, then thy life shall be forfeit without trial or hearing and immediate death by being burned at the stake shall be enforced."

One of Ashy's favorite quotes is "Idiots are so much fun! Thats why every village either has one or wants one!" ~Dr. Greg House from TV's program House. For some reason I feel compelled to include this at this part of the post. And tell you to plug that damned space heater into the wall!

If you need help in selecting the appropriate device try APC's Online Wizard. It will help you make the right choice for your system. This is a very nice intuitive tool that may save you many dollars. It'll also make sure you are protected from possible power outages, power spikes, etc. Remember that Mother Nature rules this realm and nothing is foolproof.

Another Golden Rule of Battery Back Up usage: "SIT DOWN AND READ THE MANUAL BEFORE USING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hope this helps.

"The system of nature, of which man is a part, tends to be self-balancing, self-adjusting, self-cleansing. Not so with technology."
~E.F. Schumacher

I used the Online Whizard and filled everything as close to what I actually have (There were no questions about dual vid in SLI Mode or options for Blu-Ray) and I was tolden I should buy exactly the One I have!!!
