LAN Party News (It's All Good}

Felecia wanted me to pass on the info that you can come Saturday morning or even Friday evening and set up equipment - even stay and play. Late hours limits time and you can show up to take advantage of a a longer gaming session. Of course we will be playing Guild Wars, but Team Fortress will also be the "new" game of the day. Lotta folks requested it and we are glad to oblige. Never played it, but everyone says its not only great fun, but content is interspersed with occasional humor that keeps you laughing while fragging. We will have all components in place early so you can set up, plug in and start the massacres. We'll see how Team Fortress works out and may start trying to introduce a variety of games at each gathering. This one is gonna be a blast!

Food. We need chips, dips, drinks, any type of side dish you like and if you have some adventurous concoction this is a great place to try it out. We are all foodies. Look at me (aka lardass); I am not known to back away from the groceries. If Mr. and Mrs. Hoppa show up with that killer dip I'll be at the trough and in culinary heaven. Main dish is slow cooked brisket and Ashy is slow grilling so it will be fantastic. Rumor has it there may be a surprise shipment from NOLA so put your Cajun taste buds at the tip of your tongue. Lassiez les bon temps roulez, mon ami!! Oh yes let the good times roll! Boat drinks will be available and they are quite good even without alcohol. Our group is not rowdy so children are more than welcome. Hey, Brandon, Robert's son, led a mission last gathering. It was Thunderhead Keep! Did an outstanding job.

Plan on spending a day of wonderful comraderie and multitudes of laughter. Several out of town people can't make it because of work conflicts, but they will remote in to play. We should have full teams. Please try to bring your PCs. Part of the fun is seeing all the killer gaming units. I am bringing an extra PC and will gladly share. Felecia works like a wild woman to provide a clean well organized atmosphere so any food contributions will help. Bet Em brings some super thangy to eat so try it out. She's our resident Uber Foodie. She even bakes! Not much turns this group away unless you cook like Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies. Personally I'll try anything that doesn't include curry or beef liver. Guess that could be called pretty much a free range grazer.

Show up! Contact me! A good time will be had by all!

It's LAN PARTAY TIME This Coming Saturday!!!!!!

Felecia has once again graciously opened the doors to nerds and geeks of all kinds. Ashy is slow cooking a brisket that will be AWESOME. Please contact me at the above listed email or ringy-dingy the cell if you are bringing a side dish, dessert, etc. This is our last big one of the summer and usually has a crowd of people. So come have some fun! Bring the kids, ice down a cool refreshing beverage and get ready to marvel at some of the latest creations in gaming machines. Boat drinks will be available even sans alcohol if you prefer. When was the last time you had a drink with an umbrella in it? Well...it's time to have another! Come enjoy the fellowship, the laughter and general good spirit of some of Northeast Mississippi's finest gamers and onlookers. Computer not required to get in the door, but they help! lol!

Need directions? Easy location with a huge amount of space and plenty of parking so call or email. A good time will be had by all.

Get Your Party Hat Dusted Off

Yes folks, another LAN Party is upon us. It starts around sixish this coming Saturday evening. Felecia is graciously opening her home again. Her house is centrally located and paths leading to the door are direct and simple. Please email me if you need directions. Beach house email is: cybersouth@gmail.com We will start prep on Friday and maybe even game some. We need buns, soft drinks, and the featured foods on the menu will be brats, dogs and burgers. There will be all types of sides. Any chip and dip will be awesome as will desserts. Shannon astounded us with a wonderful homemade ice cream last time and even used his personally distilled vanilla extract. Tina's famous LAN Party dip was a great hit as usual and JK's fruit trifle was awesome. Felecia got marks off the chart for some of the best baked beans ever.

We are going for an easy prep laid back menu that still reflects the traditional food of the 4th of July. Anyone wanting to lend a hand is welcome to contact us. There will be some new machines yet again at this gathering. Attendance to view all the uber gamer machines is worth the trip. Of course Guild Wars will be the feature of the night, but other games will be played too. The area is great, we have ample room and always enough ports and cable. We own our Alienware Teamspeak Server (thanks again Ashy) that rocks so don't forget your headphones. Please contact us and let us know your ETA and possible contributions. We will assume that you will be there unless you notify us. Easy enough?

A good time will be had by all (as always)! Seems like each gathering gets better.

Oh, What a Night!

LAN party at the Feleicia mega crib was astounding! We gathered and enjoyed geekdom to the fullest. Great food (yes, there was homemade ice cream with originally distilled vanilla extract - thanks Shannon - keep doing it) and great food for days! Alliance guilds showed up and Guild Wars bad guys were bashed big time. Thank you Tina for the awesome dip, thank you JK for the fruit Trifle, and thanks Ashy for ribs, assistance, etc. A special thanks goes out to everyone that showed up physically and via internet. Axe, you were the hit of the evening...humor from the British Isles is always funny. Thank you Uncle Snake for getting a 'PC Guild Wars ready' for JK. Soooo much appreciation to Mudslingr and Beagle for attending and making everyone happier and more knowledgeable (also, the loan of a great grill!). Thanks out to Rob for his Uber guidance. Brandon you did a fantastic job. Thank you again FeleciaB for hosting and cleaning my nasty-nasty MERC keyboard. Laxen, your tallness is always appreciated with strategery and our new players certainly contributed. Yes, a good time was had by all!!!!!!!!! I truly needed this gathering!

See y'all and more guild fanatics on the 4th of July! Later!

Fun Tonight

Tonight we shall Wang Chung. Guild Wars will see players in action from several different local Guilds. Oh yes, a good time will be had by all! Ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, tremendous dips and desserts (rumors are circulating maybe even homemade ice cream!) are on the menu. Thanks out to FeleciaB for putting in a lot of hard work organizing an event full of fun! We actually started the prep yesterday and will have ribs on the grill before noon! Remember to bring your headset.

Festivities are due to really get underway around sixish. If you need directions call me or email me. It's a great place smack dab in the middle of Tupelo, Mississippi. Super way to kick off the summer months! If you can't make it and want to join in from your home PC email me and get our Teamspeak3 information. We own our server so large numbers won't be a problem. Betcha' Axe will be signing in from Scotland! The Teamspeak client is very small. It's also an easy install and our set up is very simple.

And now for something completely different:

Great tune to kick off a good time. Rock on Wang Chung! Take time out to remember those that grant us freedom today. Later, gotta' go put my apron on!

Pre-Sleep Post

Another late day. Many small projects accomplished, but the list is still long. Not really whining - glad to be alive and have the challenges. Will actually take off for a few hours Saturday evening to enjoy the LAN Party at Felecia's house. Please remember to call me, email me at cybersouth@gmail.com, or leave a comment if you need directions. There will be a massive gathering of uber gaming machines and I hope Apoc brings that powerful netbook that he played Guild Wars with last time. It was amazing. You'll get to see great hardware and several of the newest games and newer versions of old games. Might even have Crysis and Call of Duty up and running. Several flavors of Linux and BSD should be up and running too. Oh yeah, the giant hot dogs will be back!

Later.

LAN PARTY!!!!!

LAN Party Labor Day weekend! Uhhhh, that is this weekend. Felecia (Forest Whister) has graciously opened her doors to all and we expect everyone to attend if possible. The last one was a huge success and a good time was had by all. Scheduled kickoff is sixish, Saturday evening. We expect to see new games (AION, Wolfenstein, etc.), but the game of choice will be Guild Wars. Just load your gear. Cables, switches, routers, WIFI, etc. WILL be provided. So will food and drink. If you want to volunteer a dish or drinks please let us know. We will probably go with the standard burger, dogs and chips. Felecia has a huge house with ample space. When LAN parrtayed on the 4th there was constant laughter. We even adjourned to the veranda and told tall tales and some of us might have even exaggerated. So make plans. This is always a great gathering and a super bunch of folks that are polite and intelligent. Email me or comment if you need directions. It's easy to find. All the gamer gang and friends are invited. So bring a pal, buddy, wife, husband, etc. Hoorah! C'mon Saturday!

Great Success

For a few hours last night it was nice to take time to visit with friends and fellow nerds at a LAN party sponsored by FeleciaB. She opened the doors to her spacious home and everyone felt welcome! Nice to see my family. They all attended for a while. It was an easy evening with a tremendous amount of laughter. Gaming was fun and the food was good too. Several people signed in from remote locations and played. Thanks to Beagle and Mudslingr for the loan of the grill. Thanks to Verdana and Uncle Snake for the drinks. A special thanks to Felecia for her hard work and all other supplies.

Preparation was easy since Felecia had almost everything done. We set wireless, plugged in a 3COM switch and off we went to the world of Guild Wars. Ashy brought the new game AION and it looks like a winner. Apoc brought his Netbook and played on it. The quality was awesome. Marlin of Buckhorn sat up shop with his uber PC at the same table where I was located and marched through several quests. Ty Roneus came on his bike and seemed to enjoy the evening. Later in the night we actually spent time on the porch just talking and laughing. Gosh, what a kewl bunch of folks. Yes, I think a good time was had by all.

Cya This Afternoon! LAN Partay!!

Have a map marked with the location of Felecia's house. No need to make fun of my artwork. If you can do better have at it. If you can find Walmart on Main Street you will be able to get to the LAN party. Please email or call...will be mowing yard for next hour or so. It's with push mower (riding won't crank) so I'll take breaks and check phone and email. Email addy is cybersouth@gmail.com. I'll edit and post when I leave for the party.

Happy 4th and God Bless these United States of America. Later.

EDIT 1: Damn it's hot out there! Pushing a 6.5HP mower without any wheel drive assistance is a bee-atch! Makes you plumb dizzy! If I happen to fall over dead please don't mourn too much. Put my lardass in a burlap bag and throw me off the Tombigbee Bridge on the Natchez Trace. Then go somewhere and party like it's 2099! Anyway, gonna make another few rounds then get ready to leave. Look for Edit #2.

EDIT 2: Made it to LAN party and it was a blast, more tomorrow.
