Some things in life I cannot abide. If I ever meet the GEICO jerk that came up with the pig screaming we, we, we, the end result of said meeting will most likely go awry. I literally turn the channel.
Don't have much use for that Brit lizard either. Does England even have lizards? Ireland has no snakes! The Green Isles probably do have lizards. In that case they need to send the GEICO one home. Needless to say I wouldn't have GEICO insurance if they paid me.
And I like whirligigs. That screaming pig sliding down a rope screaming we,we, we, desecrates the coolness of a fun item. Mayhem dude and Flo irritate me to a lesser degree. What's up with all the bad insurance commercials anyway?

Random Thursday - Not Bad, Eh?
IMHO, every politician in in the USA should be required to watch AND LISTEN to this video before they start every day! Be sure and watch all the way to the end. This is an impressive woman!
Thanks EdC for another great link. God Bless the United States and our tremendous 'cousins' to the north in Canada. Thanks out to Rick Mercer of Canada for sharing a great piece of journalism.

Random Thursday - ROFL
While watching very serious videos about political issues, foreign policy, the current baboon regime, etc., this video showed up in the list. You may have to be older to appreciate it...maybe not:
As tension eases the format will revert back to normal ramblings, tech help and things considered. Need a few more days.

Random Thursday - Gwyneth
The first video is from a movie she made with Huey Lewis. This is an old Smoky Robinson song and Gwyneth n Huey make it my all time favorite duet. If you are in love with somebody this is a good song to share.
This is from last night on the CMA Awards show. I fell asleep and missed it. Of course it never hurts to have Vince Gill backing you up, but I think she did a good job. No doubt a great actress and a dynamite singer!

Random Thursday - Definitely Different
This the only "rap" song you'll ever hear from the beach house. But hey! It's Weird Al:
BTW, have I mentioned how much cringing goes on here when the video is VEVO? Thought I had...

"Myths and legends die hard in America. We love them for the extra dimension they provide, the illusion of near-infinite possibility to erase the narrow confines of most men's reality. Weird heroes and mould-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of ''the rat race'' is not yet final."
~Hunter S. Thompson

Random Thursday: Katy 1 PBS O.
Saturday Night Live has not been a favorite of mine for quite sometime. Their constant liberal chatter is 180 degrees from back in the day when they made fun of everybody and everything. This I watched since I had been told it would air. I think it is an absolute hoot! Pun intended. WARNING: Some may not want to watch because of content and it's not for children. When this aired, why would your children be up this late?. That said, take a look at Katy Perry and the SNL crew strike back at Sesame's Street doofus decision. If you do watch make sure to check out Katy's top. That's a unique version of Elmo:
I've seen this 5 times and still laugh. I declare Ms. Perry the unanimous winner and champion of this silly, unnecessary circus! Thank you SNL and Lorne Michaels for returning to a great format. Like to see more of it. And hey, this was not nearly offensive as Dan Aykroyd's Bass-o-Matic skits!!! (They were also funny and a bit offensive to some).

"Laugh at yourself once in a while; give yourself a break."
~Greg Evans (chances are you might live a little longer too)

Randon Thursday - Elmo
Someone decided not to air this video on Sesame Street. The reasoning behind this decision is that she showed too much cleavage. Seems they wouldn't have asked Ms. Perry to participate if they wanted a "grandmother" figure to sing the tune. How about Miss Piggy instead? Wait, she's probably too busy lusting after a frog. What's your opinion? Harmless cute song that kids would find fun? After all, are they really paying attention to her clothes? If they are then they are probably too old to watch Sesame Street, huh? Or is it really that offensive? C'mon don't hold back use the comments. If you don't want ppl to know your name then don't use it. But tell us what you think! Bad or good?
She's very pretty, but the fact that she's engaged to that weird English guy makes me wonder. Why did they ask her and then not go ahead with airing? K, being redundant now. Tell us what you think.

"I think you can leave the arts, superior or inferior, to the conscience of mankind."
~William Butler Yeats (yes I noticed children weren't included in this quote)

Random Thursday - If This Doesn't Touch Your Heart, You're Dead
Thank you Mr. Webb for writing this moving ballad, thank you Mr. Downes for arranging and playing the piano. Mairead, thank you for making the strings sing soulfully into my heart. And Lisa. God has Blessed planet Earth by permitting your wonderful voice to be heard. I think this is truly as good as it gets...

Now you know my all time favorite song. Now you know that beauty is truth, truth beauty. Today's title is stolen from 'winedoctor011' around page 4 in the comments.

"If music be the food of love, play on: give me excess of it..."
~William Shakespeare
EDIT: Lyrics as requested:
See her how she flies
Golden sails across the sky
Close enough to touch
But careful if you try
Though she looks as warm as gold
The moon's a harsh mistress
The moon can be so cold
Once the sun did shine
Lord, it felt so fine
The moon a phantom rose
Through the mountains and the pines
And then the darkness fell
And the moon's a harsh mistress
It's so hard to love her well
I fell out of her eyes
I fell out of her heart
I fell down on my face
Yes, I did, and I -- I tripped and I missed my star
God, I fell and I fell alone, I fell alone
And the moon's a harsh mistress
And the sky is made of stone
The moon's a harsh mistress
She's hard to call your own.

Call or Email if You Need Directions
With the LAN Party coming up, Felecia's house on Saturday, I decided to show an older GW2 video. Most Guild Wars players have seen it, but it's still interesting. Latest Guild Wars 2 release date seems to be 11/3/2010. Take a looK:
Yes I know it's not the best offering for a Random Thursday.

Random Thursday - STEP UP!
Am ROFLMAO. This is a great example of how advertising can be extraordinary. It's a commercial from Holland that features pop stars and soccer pros.
The Europeans, especially the Brits even though this is a French site it seems, are leaps and bounds ahead when it comes to TV advertising.

"In general, my children refused to eat anything that hadn't danced on TV."

The Random Thursday Tradition, We Have a Winner

Want to see a really strange and wonderful music video? I think there's much irony in the Jaron Lowenstein video on the Hoppa the Geek site. You can click on this link or the picture in this post to get to Hoppa's site. Reminds me of the Brad Paisley song, "I'm Gonna Miss Her." BTW if someone knows of a non-VEVO site of Brad's video please let me know. I do NOT like VEVO. Anyway this is definitely a talented guy with an unusual slant on getting over a breakup. He's got pipes, excellent studio engineering and a whacky message. He's done many songs including a few with his twin brother and I haven't found a bad one yet. This dude can sing! In this tune he seems to be having some great fun. Check it out. Hoppa has definitely nailed the tradition of a Random Thursday post and now the Beach House has followed the 'RT' tradition. Enjoy it!
"Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritation and resentments slip away, and a sunny spirit takes their place."
~Mark Twain
