The Importance of Backing Up

The server job is now 50% over. Half the PCs will not perform some of the functions in the proprietary software. Changes in the server have drastically improved network speed and stability. Except for the one problem with proprietary software all other functions are fine. There were no backup disks. Heck there were no disks period. Thank the Good Lord we'd performed a backup on a USB drive a few days before it failed. Almost there. So close. Hopefully I'll finish tomorrow night.

Please, please perform a daily backup. If you are using a tape backup stick a sandwich or something in it and never use it again. Large capacity USB external hard drives are inexpensive and most come with backup software. The resident backup program in Windows works too. Be sure and purchase two of the USB drives. You can change them every day and always have a current backup off premise. They are small and easily fit in a purse or shirt pocket. Think about it. What if, God forbid, a tornado strikes your business. Or fire?

It's late. Time to sleep.

"Consider the postage stamp: its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing till it gets there."
