NVidia had a driver update 11/29/2009. I just found it. Most gamers have probably downloaded, but thought it was worth mentioning. It has corrected a few minor problems with this PC. Check it out and remember you download and install at your own risk. NVidia link is in the list.

Since I could not reassemble the page in its original form, I have eliminated all the hard work put into the sidebar, links list, etc. You will see temporary changes to the colors, location, etc. for a few days while I try desperately to put things back together again. As you can see (over to the right) the process has started and will be slow in rebuilding. What a way to spend Christmas day! And it certainly won't be finished today! Haloscan SUCKS!
Apparently, just because I would not be intimidated into forking over money in a mafioso like manner, these jerks have screwed with my page and it will take complete reconstruction to put it back in the original format and form. Hours have been spent trying to correct problems. I WILL report these jerks to the proper authorities and don't ever use their products. THEY SUCK SUCK SUCK! I swear I'd kick their asses if I could find them. Sorry bastards and bitches need to all be gut shot and left to die slow painful deaths!!!!!!!!!

Haloscan Can Go to Hell
After years of faithful use and support Haloscan decided to stop the comments overnight unless I paid them. To hell with the greedy bastards. Now using the inherent comments engine by Google and it's almost a sure bet they will never charge.
So, what does all this mean? Haloscan has deleted every comment that has been made here. The new comment form is easy to use and it has been tested. Sorry for the inconvenience. If they had given me more than 24 hours warning I might have stuck with them.
Also they messed up my sidebar and it is showing up at the bottom of the page. I feel this was probably intentional. Will work on it over the holidays and see if it will return to the original position.
This is just another piece of junk thrown on the scrap heap known as my life lately.

Since people won't respect my wishes and stop sending pictures to my cell phone action has been taken to stop you from costing me many dollars. Two 25 picture loops cost me somewhere around 15-17 dollars. Send the pixs by email. You won't be able to send any to my phone now. Mudslingr, thanks for the assistance. People amaze me.

Medical Note
Visited the doctor today. Annual check up and except the aching back reports are good so far. It'll take a week for the rest of the lab results to show up. They did test blood sugar level and mine was in tolerance. Whew! The nurse told me if I had not eaten that 9:30PM burger with Coke the test would have had better results. They were pleased that I had lost weight and encouraged me to continue. Received a flu shot and opted out on the H1N1 vaccine. All in all, it was a pleasant visit (I have white coat syndrome). The back thing just has to take time. Still hurts, but complaining doesn't make it feel any better. Ever notice that?

Avatar and AVG Free Edition
If you haven't upgraded to AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition version 9.0, it's time to do it. In a few days I'll have some suggestions and hints about installing it. There are some do's and don't's about installing and scheduling. Also, the way you do the very first scan is important.
Anyone going to see Avatar? Lotta' noise being made about a movie that cost 1/2 billion dollars to make. Hope it doesn't turn out like Costner's Waterworld. With a great track record like the one James Cameron possesses, my money says it'll be a smash hit.

Returning
Today was productive and educational. Since the time has come for me to file for additional VA benefits, I had a long talk with someone that works for them that is trusted. In the course of the conversation I was stunned by a fact unknown to me. Out of all the people that returned alive from the "War" in Vietnam less than one third of us are still alive. We are getting older, but such statistics are appalling.
It's not sane to put people in harm's way, then mistreat them when they return. This comes from someone who has had the absolute disgust of being processed through the VA Hospital, Memphis, TN. This is the workplace of some of the most hateful people on the planet.
Whining? Yes, but passing on information that is valuable. If you have a veteran or someone on active duty in your family please remember that war is truly hell on earth. Do not go liberal and turn your back on fellow countrymen that have served to keep freedom a viable option.
A prayer for those serving is certainly not wasted. Upon their return from duty be positive and help them adjust. Show them the courtesy of knowing they have defended a great nation with great people.
When the time comes to elect our officials take this information and make proper decisions. God Bless America and Merry Christmas. Later.

Music Monday Rock Classic, Thanks Leo Fender
This one heckuva' live performance. Please note the mass of this packed arena. This is one of my all time favorite rock classics. Bing...Boing? Dat Voodoo I Might Do?
Is anyone using Microsoft's sorta' new search engine - Bing? Just haven't had a chance to take a gander at this much touted product out of Redmond. Being a Google-ite I immediately call on that which I feel is the best. No doubt not everyone agrees. Google has served me well down through the years. After all, like it or not, I am human. And it's a known fact humans resist change. If you have tried it, please comment with an opinion. Or comment on any search engine with the exception of that smelly Yahoo. David and Goliath
Interesting problem arose today. A Word 2007 document had been transferred by unconventional means and a rescue image had been made. When trying to recover the .doc with the rescue point it was said to be corrupt. Several different ideas had been attempted by the originators (very computer literate people) and they emailed me this little goody. After opening in Wordpad and seeing both text and raw data, it was off on a Google hunt. After reading several boards and attempting ideas of my own I decided to download OpenOffice, a freeware, opensource office suite as the name suggests. Through some manipulation the document was finally recovered using OpenOffice. Buttoned it up, called on the lightning fast GMail service, attached it and returned the repaired .doc to them. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
Don't you find this even a little bit interesting? Here we have the mighty Microsoft Office 2007 full whamma-jamma version not opening its own safeguard against data loss. Then we take a "free" office suite and correct the problem in a matter of minutes. It has been a while since I used this great free suite of wordprocessor, spreadsheet, etc. You can bet your sweet bippy it's staying on this machine and going on my laptop too! What a blast it is to a geek using opensource to repair a Microsoft product. Just like breaking a Windows password; don't try to use a Windows based program. Google search and find the nifty Linux application developed for password hacking. It's free too!
OpenOffice has been added to the permanent Links list on this page. And a reminder, don't come whining to me if you screw up the download or installation. It's your choice and risk. It was a breeze for me.

Coffee, Weapon of Choice
Why not Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc., at the beach house? Not enough time. I am busy retro-posting as you read this "jewel of wisdom." After a day spent in front of a machine I sometimes even opt out of playing Guild Wars and vegetate. There are many unfinished beach house projects.
One of them is my ZBoard problem. Sometime in 2008 I killed a ZBoard with a custom Guild Wars keyset. Weapon of choice? Coffee. My back-lit Merc Stealth has suffered an attempt with the noble caffeine drink. I think I can save it. Sticky keys suck. It'll take some time and patience. Replacing it at this time is out of the question. Why? Moola.

Local Forum Needed. Anyone Interested?
Still searching for a decent forum concerning the Tupelo, MS area. How about this? Why doesn't someone start one? That thing over at the Daily Urinal....uh I mean Journal is a joke. Sorry, but the shoe boys took it over the day after I found it. It has nice topical structure, but the creeps put all that shoe garbage in there. Once again a huge thanks goes out to Ashy for the heads up. Whew!
If you are truly interested in starting such a site there are many free tools available. This area badly needs such a place for people to gather and discus various topics. Let me forewarn you, this is not something you set in motion and then walk away from it. It will take an administrator spending some time there to make it work properly. Best to put together a team. You have to moderate all areas to keep nefarious people at bay. Heck, who knows? It might be a lot of fun.

Nice Local Forum _See THIS COMING MONDAY"S CORRECTION POST - THIS SITE SUCKS!
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal has a nice, active forum on their NEMS360 site called Mega BBS. It covers a variety of topics and even has one dedicated to television under the entertainment section. I am now registered as dockvudu. I plan on providing more personal info and using this site as a guide about what is hot and what is not in the local area. They have a wide variety of categories and it appears to be very active. There are over 11,000 subscribers.

Priorities and Limitations
Wanted to write a really nice review about one of my favorite new TV shows and the originator Joss Whedon. His Firefly series is one of the greatest sci fi series ever aired on TV. So sad it was only one season. At least Nathan Fillion (lead role in Firefly) is now one of the characters in Castle which airs Monday nights on ABC-TV.
Just read comment #3 in yesterday's post for further information. Who knows? Maybe next time I'll get to break out my own perspective on Cybersouth - from the Saltillo Beach House, LOL. Again, please keep the comments at least vaguely pertinent to the post at hand. A sci fi TV series has nothing to do with the ludicrous HB3200 legislation that may well be the first major step to destroying our great nation.
These are my opinions. I am seriously thinking about shutting down this site for a few days once again. Sorry about the interrupt, but I HAVE to finish several projects here in the shop and in the field. Should be back in just a few days. Comments are blocked tonight and this may continue. I'll let you know if and when I unblock them. Once again, this is MY site and NOT A FORUM. There are local forums concerning various activities including TV, movies, etc. I'll try to obtain the info and post it here.

IMHO (In My Humble Opinion)
The last post about HB3200 was intended to inform all legal citizens of our country about the terrible mess this administration is provoking through somewhat underhanded legislation. If you are an illegal then I don't care what you think. Apply and receive citizenship. No matter your party affiliation you should be very concerned about what is happening. This was not intended to provoke a fight, but to encourage everyone to contact their representatives and senators. IMHO, this is bad legislation. Downright nasty. Our privacy is at question anyway and we don't need a socialist government or any form of socialism in any of the 3 branches of government. Once again, please let me remind you this is not a forum. Opinions here are mine. Just read the content and if you are not concerned then God help you.

USA Citizens Please Read this Opinion About HB3200
A close friend sent this information and asked that it be posted. Something to remember - I voted for and supported McCain. This is frightening.

Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill
3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with
particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law.. I was
frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed
might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard
or expected.
To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its
implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are
saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly
where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free
health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably
forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession.
The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of
business and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about
personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats and
most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions,
payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will
be strictly controlled.
However, as scary as all of that it, it just scratches the surface. In
fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of
providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover
for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of
government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated. If this law
or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the
United States will effectively have been destroyed.
The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power
between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S.
Government.. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration
authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American
people and the businesses they own. The irony is that the Congress doesn't
have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with. I
defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any
authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.
This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the Obama
administration of all of your personal healthcare information, your
personal financial information, and the information of your employer,
physician, and hospital. All of this is a direct violation of the specific
provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution protecting against
unreasonable searches and seizures. You can also forget about the right to
privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what
the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide.
If you decide not to have healthcare insurance or if you have private
insurance that is not deemed "acceptable" to the "Health Choices
Administrator" appointed by Obama there will be a tax imposed on you. It is
called a "tax" instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application
of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment.
However, that doesn't work because since there is nothing in the law that
allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely
depriving someone of property without the "due process of law.
So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so
much out the original ten in the Bill of Rights that are effectively
nullified by this law. It doesn't stop there though. The 9th Amendment that
provides: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall
not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;" The
10th Amendment states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by
the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the
States respectively, or to the people." Under the provisions of this piece
of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to
have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to
control.
I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get
the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and
limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both
houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation" to support the
Constitution. If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for
this legislation or anything like it without feeling I was violating that
sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway I would hope the
American people would hold me accountable.

Virtual Reality vs Reality
Got an email from someone that said they couldn't believe I watch anime. Well, I don't as a general rule. I do watch Ghost in the Shell. See yesterday's post. I only play two PC games. One, of course is Guild Wars and I have beat Microsoft's Freecell 102 straight times. This is something I do when loading XP Pro and 102 is a definite record, lol. When I do find time to play it seems there's never enough of said time to do long extended missions with my guildmates. To me, that is the great fun of playing the best online role playing game out there. Yet, it's still fun to jump in for a few minutes and play solo.
I like many things virtual and reality. My recent rollercoaster of stress has made some interesting fodder for a very small time net person that writes with minimal discipline. This is a site that frequently contains the unexpected. Didn't intend to make it that way, just turned out that way. Most of my waking hours are spent in research if not in the field actually manipulating the few networks managed. Know what? There are times I use the internet just for fun. My boss let's me get away with that, lol. This day and time you must stay up to date or you will fail if in the computer networking biz.
Just observations. Pay it forward. Comments?
