People, please put your tech hat on for a few minutes and heed the advice given in this PCWorld article. The Conficker, aka Downadup, virus is a nasty one. Machines attached to a network with a Windows server are the targets. You still need to be wary with your home PC since the virus will mutate to USB jump drives, laptops, etc. This one is very very bad.
How to safeguard against this garbage? Make sure your PC has ALL Windows updates. Then make sure your anti-virus program is up to date and scanning on a daily basis. This is sound advice for any user. If you maintain, own, or use a Windows server be sure and check your updates.
Trash such as this infection proves that Satan is doing just fine in his normal mode on planet Earth. Might be a good idea to tattoo a big 'L' on the forehead of anyone caught writing these nuisances. LOSERS!
