Don't believe the hype about AVG no longer having a free edition. It's hard to find. There definitely is a free download of version 8. Here's the link:

Click on the button (it's the long thangy) and download it. Then follow instructions and install the new anti-virus software. It is possible you will have to uninstall previous versions.
Please consider purchasing this software. It is by far the best anti-virus program on the planet. Their security suite is good too. And they don't bog down a machine like Symantec-Norton or whatever it's called today. Oh yes, if you are using McAfee, have you had a problem with pterodactyls eating that corn in the garden?
