Music Monday - Lord Have Mercy

Anyone that knows me realizes I have two daughters that are gorgeous, extremely intelligent, full of life, embracers of things familial, awesome people in general and both seem to rejoice in that which is geekified or nerdistic. Sorry, it's just not possible to be humble when the subject matter comes to them. So I often visit beagle's site and review her favorites in music. She recently posted Broken Wings, another Mr. Mister music video. The video posted here today has poor visuals, but awesome audio. Inspirational, to say the least:

Lyrics:

The wind blows hard against this mountain side,
across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide,
setting my feet upon the road

My heart is old, it holds my memories,
my body burns a gemlike flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine,
is where I find myself again

Chorus:
Kyrie eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison, where I'm going will you follow
Kyrie eleison, on a highway in the light

When I was young I thought of growing old, o
of what my life would mean to me
Would I have followed down my chosen road,
or only wished what I could be

Κύριε, ἐλέησον which interpreted into English text is Kyrie, eleison. The literal translation is, "Lord, have mercy." When John Lang wrote the lyrics he wasn't going for an overwhelming devout theme, he liked the words, the music and the thought. God was working mightily through this young man. Richard Page is the bass player and co-writer (he handled the music) that sings it. He sounds as good today as he did in 1986. Maybe even better.

This song is special to me. It inspires me to push on when times are dark. And brother, you know the light has been dim for me during the past few years. It's funny though. Even though this song has a positive spin I still tear up a bit. Think it's because there is such great beauty in this sometimes ugly world. The emotions rise inside and the tears are recognition of this great joy. Enough. It will always be one of my top 5 favorite tunes.

Hey, you were just here I noticed. Please call me when you get a chance.
