Switching to Teamspeak 3

There is a planned move to upgrade the Teamspeak 2 server in the very near future. The Teamspeak 3 server has been in use for over a month now and it is very stable. Many improvements have been made. Please do not run radios, TVs, speakers, etc. in the background. It is a worthwhile investment to purchase a headset and turn off speakers altogether. You can purchase a nice Logitech headset at Walmart for under 20 bucks. Even though this is the favored alternative we do have several users that still utilize separate speakers and microphones without any problems. Those users have been gracious and worked with us to eliminate problems. So it can be done.

Check your settings and make sure you are not echoing. If you don't understand I'll gladly demonstrate how ultra-irritating it is to have someone echoing over everyone else. C'mon folks we have Hughes Net users that sound like they are in the room next to you. Locally, their signal travels into space and back at a distance of around 50,000 miles. Still amazes me how they do it with so little delay. Work with us if you are echoing. Most anyone that is on Teamspeak 3 will be glad to assist you. One of our regular users is in the British Isles using separate mic and speakers. Sounds perfect.

Here is an excellent YouTube video tutorial that will help you make the transition:

Thanks for the super link Ashy! And thanks for all the hard work to supply, install and setup the TS3 server. Thanks to Forest for the assist too. We now have a channel for LOTRO users as well as many categories listed under Guild Wars. If you'd like to ad a channel for a particular game, please contact Ashy or me. It should be noted that even though this is a 365/24/7 service our machines are at the mercy of weather, the ISP and internet. Constant connection can't be guaranteed, but we do our best. If for any reason the system goes offline for routine maintenance we will try to give notice in a substantial amount of time. So check in and hear a really kewl voice over internet service. Blows the rest of them out of the water like a battleship sinking a rowboat!

That YouTube video tutorial has a part in it about starting TS3 for the first time. During that point you have a microphone test and adjustment section. Use This! If you do use separate mic and speakers, you can turn on some music while doing this test to see if your speakers will be picked up by your mic. And if they are, you can move the slider bar up so that they don't. If you have already gone through the setup, you can get back to the mic test by clicking "tools" and "setup wizard".

You can always access that wizard from the settings menu tree.
